I know you don't want to ship but it's worth a shot.

Trade for a basically brand new Motorola SLVR L7 (new as in screen and back of case are still covered in plastic), with 512MB mem card, and unlocked.

when you say highspeed memory does not work, does that mean the internal memory? what happened fixable?

it is a 1gb memory stick duo pro high speed, the w800 only takes duo pro, so what it does is in disables the highspeed and uses it as a duo pro card.
now why am i using it for my phone? becasue it was a gift and im not going to say no to a gift.

so just think of it as a 1 gb duo pro card.
