Do you like the looks of a debadge car? Is it Rice or Nice? I'm referring to just the model numbers of the car (i.e. 325Ci) and not the big front/rear emblem. Just want to hear your thoughts.

Depends on the car, gives some a nice clean look, on others its just play ol ugly...

Nosed, Decked and Shaved were custom touches when Rice was still a grain. They'll always be the right thing to do.

Exactly. I wouldn't de badge an SLK 55 though... :)
Actually I might, just depends.

really depends on the car imo. Some look really nice, some look like its missing something. Take the Mazda 3 for example, taking out the Mazda symbol on the trunk makes it look soooo empty

I'm referring to just the model numbers. I think it gives the car more of a sleeper look since most models look similar and your average person can't tell the body panel/suspension/wheel differences. :D

We're talking about an SLK, right?? :)

The Benz's all look better off w/o them, and they're the easiest to remove.

I'm planning to remove the AMG and SLK55 badging. I think it looks better without it. :dunno:

No badge on the front... just smooth and clean.

it was kind of an anti rice statement since most owners put glowing ones or red honda badges lol

i'd say on your car keep it! i think its mostly ppl that have the plain base model that take it off so ppl think it might be the better version ie a 320 bmw removes so they think its a 330 or something

depends why you're debadging,
if you want to debadge a 325 to try to 'fool' people into thinking it's a 330, it's pretty lame.:banghead:

it's totally subjective

edit: ^^ beat me to it~

:werd: Most of the people here who have debadged really don't fit in that catagory, but almost all the debadged cars I've seen on the road have been vain attempts at what 2002civic just described.

Why would you want to make your AMG a sleeper anyways? the base model for your car is still fast enough to scare people away. AMG just moves the thought from "man that thing would own me" to "man that thing would annihilate me".

debadge it, most people who count will know what kind of car it is anyways... looks cleaner without trim badges (325i, etc).

Yes I debadged my car, when I get my m3 i will debadge that too.

just a BMW in the center, and nothing on the sides. looks hella clean imo.

Cant fool me, if you know your e46's you can tell right off the bat.

I knew would this come up, but some people do it for looks, not for "fooling" people.

you have a BMW badge on there, what else do you need? (regardless of model.)

My badge is still on, I think it looks naked in the back without it.

I don't think thats a reason why most would debadge. If people couldn't tell the difference between a 320 and a 330 without the badge, chances are they couldn't tell the difference if the badge was there. I am sure there are some retards so concerned with image that would do it for that reason, but most ppl do it since they find it looks cleaner.

I personally wouldn't do it.

Yes if your car is newer.

No if it's older. Never know how much the paint has faded.

It's the anti-rice. Debadging is fun when you get a nice car and turn it into a sleeper... for example, debadging an ITR, or even better, an STi. You can replace the rear decklid of the STi which has the wing attached with a stock WRX's, so you have the stock spoiler and badging.

Debadging is popular in Germany, I hear:dunno:

I couldn't make my mind up for my car, its one of those depends on car things, I ended up taking pics and photoshopping it out to see if I liked it off or on better, got a buddies opinion, still couldn't make my mind up, took it off, quite pleased now :)

You still have the hella mad scoop in the STi though... unless it's an '06.

Aha… that is because they usually opted a 1.1 liter engine under the hood for their 3500lbs car. Why not just hide the embarrassment? Let people guess is fine.

Seems to me that the only a person who insists on de-badging a car is “brand conscious”.

I believe some manufacturers offer badge delete as an option in Europe.

i put badges on the s13 so cops dont have a reason to pull me over... apparently they assume cars are "stolen" if badges are missing.

Also with the ITR you will still have the 5 lug (97+). Not like you are gonna confuse anyone. :dunno:

and no side mouldings...the paint that sticks out like a sore thumb no matter what year ITR, and the fact that V-TAK can be heard from a mile away...haha

removing decals becuase they want ppl to think it's something it's not. they're not fooling anyone or impressing anyone.

I'm against debadging. I realise it can provide a cleaner look. But personally I want people to know what it is I drive because I am proud of it.

Not only that but I think badging on vehicles is very important from a safety aspect. If a vehicle is involved in a crime (hit and run, attempts to abduct kids, etc. etc.) badging helps identifing vehicles alot easier for those that aren't to familiar with different makes/models.
