More 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK Pics/details

Latest rumor has it the AMG version will NOT be getting a Supercharged V6, instead, it'll be getting the old 24-valve 5.5L V8 that's currently in the CLK55 and the ML55, not the supercharged version in the S/SL/CL/E55. Motor makes 362hp/376tq. This was mentioned by the guys in the AMG club (and employees) in germany a few months ago and confirmed in Bild.

The car's also getting the AirMatic adjustable suspension, Active Body Control, and SBC Sensotronic Brake control. Bye bye 3200lb curb weight!

Engine choices should be the 1.8L Supercharged 4 banger (~200hp), the new 3.5L V6 (~250hp) and the AMG 5.5L V8 (362hp).

Personally, I think it's butt ugly from the back (hello BMW 7). The front is acceptable, but it's a bit on the ugly side. But it fits the V8 nicely... Renntech/AMG Supercharger, 600hp!

Don't plan on getting the R171. Waiting lists are useless, I got bumped on the E55 list probably by a real high roller. Fucking dealerships.

I bet there will be an SLK facelift after a year if the car actually comes out like that, that nose is quite ugly.

There is a six speed manual for existing SLKs, just not in the AMG models. I really doubt there will be a manual on this newer SLK55.

I'd get on the list now just in case. When the original SLK came out, we didn't put our deposit down until the Auto Show where they showed the car. Almost 2 year wait! Make sure you put money down at a dealership that doesn't sell off your spot (hint hint).

How can they bump you off your spot? Then the waiting list is completely pointless. I would complain to MB Canada if I were you.

Well I'm not off the spot, but I'm #2 now. Funny how they didn't mention I was #2 until after the 1st allocation order was locked in. I was told I was first for the last year. Apparantly, some salesperson had an order in before mine but they didn't tell me at all. They didn't mention this to me at all, I called and checked to see the status of the E55 (I call and check monthly) and was told at that time someone had an order that was dated before me all of a sudden, and it's too late to do anything about it.

Since the lease is coming up on the SLK 320, I have to get something before it runs out, or I'd be short a car. Unless a miracle happens, I'll probably be getting either an M3 SMG or a C32. Lucky for me, my dad has a C32 spot at Hyatt. Bye bye E55 :thumbsdow

Is the C32 enough power for you Rage? I thought it was the same motor/charger as the SLK32? :dunno:

I don't even know if the E55 is enough power for me! Oh well, my E55 plans are messed anyways, so who knows. C32 won't have enough power at all (same motor as SLK 32 but weighs like 500lbs more). C32 is cheap tho, fully optioned out it's a few grand cheaper than my SLK 320. Not bad for a cruiser I guess, but it's no E55.

That sucks man. I always thought service was pretty good at that dealership. I guess not anymore. It looks like they still only plan on getting like 1 or 2 E55's a year.

So are you going to use your E55 spot? If not you wanna give it to me? :)

We'll see... like I said, hoping for a Miracle hehe. They tell me they might be able to get a 2nd allocation right away, I personally don't believe it till I see it, but who knows.
