I've had all my cars done at shadow tinting. Even the nearly impossible 944 rear window was done perfectly.

Nuno is good at Shadow, but he is expensive. and it takes alot longer because he takes out all the windows. my buddy doesnt have to take out the windows to do the same job or better. and not because hes my buddy, but he really is one of the best i know.

He doesn't take out the windows. In fact, I don't know any tinters that take out the windows.

they do take out the windows because i worked with them before i was with Icon. when they were on Macleod trail. so i know that first hand. its a wiersd thing i know but they do it. maybe to cut time they dont do it anymore, but i know for a fact Nuno used to.

So this shadow tinting place (sorry I searched for threads on window tinting and got only a few options so I'm posting here) are they really pricey or reasonable?

I want a professional job that won't leave me with purple tint or wrecked rear defrost or a shody job.

I have a 1991 BMW 7 series and require the 7 windows tinted. I removed the tint from the side windows but didn't attempt the rear window, so that also has to be removed in the process.

From waht I can figure out, ICON & Shadow tinting are pretty much the best?

Also when windows are being tinted is there any special proceedure to follow? Like need to keep all the windows down/up for extended period of time, roughly how long does it take ?! I would assume that every place is slightly different but general guidelines that I should be expecting would be good since I only have the one car right now and I don't know what to expect from it.

Usually I just go with no tint on my windows but I want to do it this time.

ding ding ding! Icon did my window tinting and its mint. They also installed my Spoon window banner for $20, they trimed it, and installed it in 15 minutes. Best of all they did it on very short notice the day before SCN.

They'll tell you how to care for it. No rolling down for a couple days... you'll have bubbles for a couple day, they go away.... no washing with regular window cleaner... etc etc.

My friend has his tinted at the dealer, it was terribly done. The cut at the top was wavy, jagged, and only looked good closed.

My windows were done at Icon, very nice install.

wtf, why did they quote me so high? you must have small flat windows i guess.

Well i just booked a time with icon, sounds like they do good work, and for 100 dollars less and the same warranty, i couldn't refuse.

has anyone had experience at both shadow and icon? the quite I got from icon is $50 less than shadow. Just wondering if the diff in cost is justified. Seems like they oth have their fans here and nothing really negative about either of them.

Im scheduled for tint at Icon in a couple weeks. Ive been told that they do not use 3M Film and therefore their tint has a "blue" or "purple" hue? Has anyone experienced this? Appreciate it!

my bro had his windows done at shadow tinting for the rear window, back and front seat windows all done perfectly with the best quality dye that doesnt turn purple on you. All were done for around 350 bucks. another +1 for shadow tinting.

^^ how much would it cost for just the rear hatch window and the 2 rear quarter windows (really tiny triangles)

I got all 5 (rear 3, and front 2 doors) done at Shadow years ago. I only paid $150+tax. It helped that I worked for a dealership that had a corporate account with them, and they gave me their corporate deal.

And after the past several years, the tinting has looked exactly the way it did since day 1. Oh, and just to clarify things, they DO still take windows out, at least when I got it installed. I remember noticing that my crank levers were placed on differently on my doors, and the rear defroster cable had been disconnected and then reconnected again.
