3000gt's are cool, i like them, but yes without the VR-4 engine (iirc that's what it is, the TT one) they are super slow, SL ftl...VR-4 ftw

great looking ride and lots of fun. if you are getting an na just make sure that its a dohc mtx. even the na engine is 222hp so not exactly super slow or anything. lots of people are starting to do tt swaps/conversions with the fwds too ... lots of potential.

I had a 1995 3000gt SL (non turbo but every option) and absolutely no problems. The 5 speed is over a second faster 0-60 than the automatic and transforms the car...its still not super fast but its OK. The twin turbo AWD versions especially with all wheel steering are SUPER heavy and have alot of reliability issues. If you can find one that hasnt been bagged, their fine.

Just make sure you dont get the one with the SOHC motor its 165hp and you could run faster.

Dude, the vr4's CURB weight is fucking 4000 pounds. Ive driven them, they feel like boats!! My skyline weighs 2750 soaking wet and yes, its quite nimble. Thats a difference of 1250+ pounds, id say thats pretty significant.

Yeah but the 3000GT doesn't have 80's wedge shaped styling and even at it's weight posted near identical performance numbers to the mighty Supra TT stock.

I much prefer skyline styling to the styling of a 3000gt. I like simple lines, and to me, the 3000gt looks as big as it feels. The skyline's "80's styling" doesnt make the 3000gt any smaller or fun to drive. They are heavy, about as nimble as a tank, a bitch to work on (transverse TT V6 awd :nut: ), and just overall shitty imo. Although id probably take one over an srt4 :thumbsdow

The only reason it keeps up to a supra is cause of the awd, meaning that the supra is faster on a road course, from a roll, daily driving, etc.

I bought my car because i wanted something fast and functional; it happens to look great to me, and i could give two shits about styling anyway. Im not a ricer who wants to impress 14 year old girls with curvy styling, id rather have a car that looks like nothing but has a hell of a business end. I also enjoy modding my car myself rather than taking it to the mopar dealership for packages that everyone else out on the road has. :drama:

I dont get it, why must you bash skylines every chance you get?

sigh.
a vr4 is more like 3600-3700.
a gtr is what? about 3400? mk4 supras are up there too.

we are talking about an na 3kgt in this thread though ... not a vr4. most of the nas are more like 3200-3300. by no means a light vehicle ... they are touring cars.

anyway, it shouldnt be that bad fixing them either. since they were sold here, parts are easy to come by. the vr4 has a bit of a cramped engine bay but the na shouldnt be too bad at all. the car has a great following and owners base should you ever need help too. check out forum.canada3si.org or 3si.org/forum

Yeah whatever. I installed my own mopar packages thanks but have been modding cars in my garage before you had a driver's license so please spare me "modding myself" talk.

But you are right. Your car was good enough to impress Ludegirl so who am I to argue with success.

The vr4's are supposedly 3800......a lot closer to 4000 when full of gas and such.
