arent there two different cones that u can use with the jackhammer, one for spl, other for sq? not saying it'd b good for sq, but im pretty sure i read somewhere that the cone is changeable...

That thing was pretty cool! Reminds me of thumper in twisted metal 2. That speaker would be so cool, set up a remote controlled rear hatch, when you're at a light open it up, put on your ear protection, and try to crack the guy behind you's windsheild!

I couldn't get a link, but it also makes me think of the video for Funk D'Void's diabla. Neat video. Check it out if you like big ass speakers and electronic music.

About the sound quality, I don't think that really matters anyway, after all (like any system that can compete in dB races, if you were to actually listen to it for 15 seconds, your ears wouldn't work anymore anyways.

your thinking of MTX's short lived RFL. That was MTX's take to the table of a hardcore SPL sub. That sub was awful, it was completely un-usable outside of a SPL enviroment. basically, the sub needed SO much power to create LOTS of SPL that it was a poor choice for anybody competing. :thumbsdow So they dis-continued it.

About the Jackhammer, its already been dis-continued. That was MTX's jab at the "bling bling car audio" market. basically that sub was targeted towards people like Eminem, 50 cent, and other people with obscene amounts of cash, that just want a typically showy set-up.
That sub can't accurately re-produce any frequencies (or at all) above 35hz, which makes it useless for anything really. Being a 24" woofer, its un-usable in competitions since it doesn't fit into any class, asides from maybe "Extreme Open" much like Clarion's and Audiobahn's short lived 32" and 34" subs, it had a minimal lifespan, since there realistically is no market for it.

I didn't watch that particular video in this thread, but is probably that "Pimp my ride" one isn't it?
Man those guys have a death wish for that kid, WOW, if that kid gets into a head-on collision with that 350 pound sub right behind him, its going to be REALLY messy. as is the case with almost any hardcore sub mounted that way. A sub like the jackhammer, or this beast,

http://nisaznmonk.com/images/06%20XXX/P1010081.JPG
( 2006 RE Audio XXX12 )

Needs to be attached to the frame, or it'll be a nasty projectile if you or anybody else were to get into an accident while driving.

Going back to that Jack-hammer, nobody really needs a sub like THAT when you can get away with a sub like the Resonant Engineering sub that I pictured, that will be just as loud, take just as much power, and hit just as low. The cool part, is that they dont cost $6300 USD (or whatever they go for) and they dont wiegh in at 350 pounds AND you still have a trunk left over afterwards.
There are TONS of subs that'll eat that Jack-hammer for breakfast at EVERYTHING audio, for a fraction of the price... (and wieght)

So, if you still really want one, better get on ebay, or check the remaining stock if any online store still has them. (which they probably will, I'd be VERY suprised if MTX sold more then 20 of those in grand total) :nut:
