I know i dont have much to go on, but my car was hit last night and the *&%$&^ left the scene, all there was to find was a pice of his mirror, It has the word "SCHEFENACKER" on the inside of it and part of a number "14067" if anyone can help me to the best of their ability let me know thanx. and heres a pic of the pieces if it helps. maybe someone knows what the color is and that might narrow it down....

I googled "SCHEFENACKER" and found that this company makes exterior mirrors. Now try and figure some isht out with that number.

Not sure who you are going to bust though....no license plate number or anything.

yeah i know they make exterior mirrors, thats why i said its a piece of the mirror, but thanx for the lookup anyway, but what i'm after is what make of car it is to start with, and then i can see what i can do about finding out what the color is, and then hopefully figure out some more from there.

well ... looks to be new ... might wanna try hopping dealerships and trying to match that piece to a car.

i was originally thinking honda element ... or dodge ram ... but after seeing your damage, it bruises look too low to be from a truck of some sort, maybe a cobalt? somthing GM?

Dude, that sux ass... :thumbsdow I agree, you should check a couple dealers to see if they can ID it.

yeah my plan is to hit the automall tomorrow or saturday, and they knocked my mirror clean off as well, and there's a line where their mirror came into contact with my rear fender, you can see it right below the window pillar, so it has to be something low like a car...the piece of mirror i have is the more inner part so i assume theirs is completely off, and they picked up some pieces and took off, the one i have was under the car parked in front of mine...

Its also not even my rim, i just borrowed it from my old man last week, casue my tires are bald, so now i need to replace that for him aswell, anyone has any or knows someone wanting to get rid of some let me know, they're off a fiero i believe, but maybe off other gm products w/ a 5x100 pattern...

I live in Cedarbrae and I work with CPS on a daily basis, I'm sure I can get some of my police friends to look at accident reports. If he did hit and run you I'm betting he went and tried to file a accident report saying somebody hit him (if he is sleazy enough to do it to you why not do this) if this is the case he is gonna be so screwed if he gets caught. The owner of A-1 Autobody is also a family friend I'll call him up and ask him to keep an eye open for any burnt orange cars comming in with a busted mirror.

I fired off a bunch of e-mails to some of my car guys to look into. I'll let you know if they find anything.

Ok i just go this back from Standard auto wreckers, "This would be from a audi or volkswagon , "schefenacker " the 14067 is part of the part number for that mirror.
hope this helps . "

so maybe that'll narrow it down a bit :)

Just because the manufacturer name sounds German doesn't mean that the part is from a German car. There are NO VW or Audi's in that color. Zip zero nada.

The company makes for alot of American cars and it's not a full part number some of it's missing. Alot of the mirrors they make for cars are non painted so maybe that helps to narrow down what car it is. That's what my buddy says. I think it's a nissan.. This guessing game is so fun

Actually "Schefenacker" is an australian company that specializes in all kinds of automotive mirrors.

The only cars who use Schefenacker mirrors are Porsche, VW, Audi, The German cars. If not one of these cars, the mirrors were put on as an aftermarket.

However, The RSX pic is too close of a match to disregard it as a suspected car.

dingdingding, looks like we have a match? what next? call each autobody shop up and ask if any 05 rsx's are in? totally sucks that the guy hit n run u tho, good luck with everything...

You mean passenger side?

Orbie
03-31-2006, 04:12 PM
I don't know it looks very close, but from what I remember that orange color on the RSX was more of a peachy color. Hard to tell from pictures, but when I saw the car in real life the color looked lighter than the picture of the side view mirror.

Then there's the post about them only making mirrors for German cars...that just kind of throws everything out of whack. I think you're getting closer though...

I saw a nissan murano today in that color and the mirrors looked pretty damn close to that shape to me. But then again that might be a little to high to make that damage.

schefenacker is not an australian company. www.schefenacker.com

schefenacker mirrors come on lots of vehicles, not just german ones. http://www.themanufacturer.com/us/detail.html?contents_id=3314
