i am thinking of doing that, because my brother is going to sign with fido, but im with rogers and have no clue how easy or hard it is to get the phone unlocked.

Nokia phones are the easiest/cheapest to unlock.

you could if you use it right, you only get 5 chances before you will need to use a cable to unlock, you gotta know all the correct settings and what codes out of 7 it throws at you to use, but if your spending 500 on the phone why not pay someone 30-40 to unlock it so you have no worries?

i really did not want to buy a new phone then have to pay someone to get it unlocked. i started this thread so i can buy a unlocked version, and not have to go through the hassel of unlocking a phone.

In edmonton there is a place called omega cell that does it for under $40, i'm not to sure about calgary, but you can also do it online, i think most places charge about 15-20 us online, and you dont need to send your phone in they just do it remotly or something.
