I just bought two amps for my car and a cap. There is already 8g wire running to he trunk where the amps.cap will be installed. It was recommended that I run 4g wire to the cap and then use the 8g to connect the cap to the two amps. Here's the problem: I cannot for the life of me get the damn 4g wire through the firewall! A combination of the firewall being very inaccessible and me not being able to see a thing under there are making this very difficult.

Would it be safe to use 8g power wire to run to the cap?

Also, how do you wire in the transistor in the cap? Do you just jam it in between the power wires between the cap and the amp??

Any help for this DIYer who is now in way over his head would be appreciated!

Oh, any advice on mounting the cap?

Thanks guys and girls.

Peace,
J

Id stay with that recommendation of 4g main to the cap. Also id only run the cap to the one amp that runs your subs.

Man I've got 0/1 gauge... that's hard. heh

4gauge is easy :P

and you should charge the cap out of the car
follow the instructions with the charge card

it's not had

12V computer power supply leads work just fine.

I'd say you might as well run 4 AWG all around, you might find some other routes to the firewall besides the one that you are talking about.
