nice job freeborn, that gnx is a beast i remember you showing me it in your garge ahahha

so i see your dads still a big baller.

ahhaha werent you goin to get bear brakes for your car too?

BerserkerCatSplat

Make sure your dad doesn't sell/throw out the stock brakes, cars like that will be worth more in 100% stock form when they become even more of a collector's item than they already are. Keep them around in case you ever need to return it to stock specs.

oh dont worrie... EVERY LAST BOLT is kept... nothing is hacked up on this car.. every thing can be returned to stock....

only things that cant that we threw out were stock exhaust... rusted out from original owner not driving it...

battery....

stock tires (which were CRAP!)

but right now i see these going from any where from $70,000-$100,000

actually we had 4 or 5 people in the last month call and offer us $80,000+ i think it was... but we said no...

well the front cant go down any more for 2 reasons...
- look where the intercooler scoop is...
- 275 wide tires would rub if lowerd to much

http://x11.putfile.com/4/9218494133.jpg

rear cant go down because again rubbing... it will drop down some since its sitting on air bags... but we have to check it when we lower it for clearence.... 315 wide tires are not easy to tuck hahaha

Nice car!

There is a Gm Dealership owner in Winnipeg that has a 1600 orginal mile GNX. All stock with all paperwork. The tires are like new and it was gorgeous.

I was discussing future collectable muscle cars on another forum and I will say it here as well; I believe the GNX will be the first factory muscle car since the early 70's to sell for 6 figures. Barrett-Jackson brings out the heavy hitters, ie. Reggie Jackson (heavy hitter-get it?!).

yea thoughs ones are nice... (the low mile ones) ... although this is a very rare car... it gets driven every were... no trailor ever... (well ok world of wheels but thats cuz it was snowing and i put 4+ weeks of cleaning into it)
ours still has fairly low miles... 26,000miles, and yep we still got our window sticker and all the paper work to go with it ... as you can see below :P

yea i could see that... this car has doubled in value since we got it... and no sign of slowing up... sine i see them now going for sale in the $100,000's range....

Very nice! 26,000 is definately low still too.

As for the value side of things, you would still be much better off investing your $30,000 back in 86 than buying even a GNX. Even at a lowely 8% rate, you would have well over $100,000, closer to $150,000 actually. However, you wouldn't have the 20 great years of GNX fun.

we arent the original owners.. some guy in chicago was... but it was never driven untill we got it basically... and i would much rather invest in this than any thing else... but then its different for every one i guess... but considering more and more of these are selling for $100,000+ U.S! i think it was a good investment...

Nice ride...

My friend used to have a GN T-Type or Type-T i forgot the exact model, but it was one of the fastest cars I've ever been in... I remember on the highway it pulled on this 10 sec integra

GQBalla
04-04-2006, 10:54 PM
^^^ 10 second integra?

although ive never seen this gnx run in real life i remember the long nights viewing all those videos you had freeborn the airbags in the back are pimpeddddd

its so sweet when the all the sudden go down when your about to launch

Freebs
04-04-2006, 11:08 PM
Yea with the ladder bars in the back the rear end lifts up when you brake stand it to launch... its actually sweet to watch... i was going to post a video where you could see this perfectly... the one that GQBalla saw and is talking about... but i cant get on to the site...

the air bags in side the springs are just there to raise and lower the rear end... you fill it up like you do the tires..just there is a valve on the back bumper... hidden... :P

Are they not called a torque arm? Ladder bars are different than what the GN has.

The F-bodies have them too.

GN's didnt come with them... thats another thing that the GNX's got... so yea its got em... some people think GNX's are the same as a GN with just body differences.. but there was ALOT more added to the rare 547....

Yeah, I meant GNX. What they call a ladder bar on the GNX, they call a torque arm on the F-body, but it is the same thing. There is only one "ladder bar/torque arm" though.

yes i believe soo... i just always call it a ladder bar... alot of GN guys i know call it that too so its just stuck that way i guess...

mikestypes
04-06-2006, 07:23 AM
A panhard bar is not the same either. It is to control lateral movement of the rear axle and runs across the car behind the axle. Both a GNX and F-body have a panhard bar in addition to ladder-bar/torque-arm.

Check out the suspension link on this page:

WOW, you are SO lucky. The short lived Corvette eater.

There are a few short lived cars from the late 1980's to early 1990's that GM halted production on, because they were faster then the Vette. Yours is one, the other is the Firehawk. <--- THAT is a rare car. :bigpimp:

I think one or two others, but I can't think of them.

Yours is the nicest GNX I've ever seen, ever. Those rims look amazing on that car.

The V6 Fiero GT in the later years of production (88 I believe?) was faster than than the Vette of the time too.

Graham_A_M - Yea deffinatly was a fast car for its time... i have a video of a bone stock GNX racing a 87 Callaway Twin turbo corvette and the GNX absolutly destroyes it... ill post it if i can find it.... but even though this is a vette killer we broke down and got a vette as well :P but this vette will probably be one of the quickest street driven cars in calgary :P

madmazda - oh i plan to try to keep it in the family trust me... and its not like i want it when im older cuz it will be worth lots and i can sell it... i want it when im older because of how nice/amazing of a car it is...

yep still the 19 year old paint... a few scratched that were touched up with the little bottle / brush thing... but i would say maybe 2-3 only... and absolultly no rush what so ever.... and it gets driven in the rain too ocationaly when we get caught or if we just need the car at the time that its raining... it just gets properly cleaned/dryed off every time...
