Just have a quick question regarding the Graduate discount program offered by the different manufacturer ie mazda , VW, honda

is it something extra that is not influced in the dealer invoice.
so If i go negociate a new car.. and get it down to .. let say. $500 to invoice.. right before I sign on the line I can mention that I am a recently Grad and they will stil have to give me the discount?

Yes. Since the rebate is from the manufacturer and not the dealer, the discount will come off the lowest price you can get. Even if you let it slip before hand, the dealers don't care since the rebate is sent back to the dealer anyway from the manufacturer which means it plays no role in there bottom dollar.

Yeah, the rebate has nothing to do with the dealer. It usually ends up as part of the downpayment.

i.e. You negotiate a price of $20,000 and decide to put $2K down.

The grad rebate effectively gives you the payments for $3K down (if the rebate is $1K).

The one thing they do is include the GST in the rebate. So you only get $934.58 (if it is $1K)
