Sorry for the poor quality pics, I only had my camera phone, and I was trying to get my phone out as he pulled up, then he got his green light first, so no side-pics.

It was wearing alberta plates.
I don't know for sure whether it was real or a kit, but if it is a kit, it is VERY nicely done. Sounds simply amazing too!
It was getting some serious attention. The pics are in the wrong order, but when he pulled up to the light he opened his door for a sec, then the car behind him pulled up, and he got right out of his car to look at it. Then the truck on his right pulled up, and that driver also got out just to look at it.

You know it's a hot car when even my G/F says something!

Hope this qualifies as a good spotted thread :D

I would be surprised if it wasnt. Ford has made some for canada, with the 5mph or what ever bumper. Crowfoot Ford had a red and white stripe on a while ago. Sold for $216,000. They are trickling into canada. oh and..5 mph bumper:

Well, if it is a kit, then the kit builder sure wanted it to look authentic. It had that exact bumper on it. That bumper looks like crap IMO.

I'm starting to think it was real!

One of the supervisors at my work knows the guy who owns it. He's Cam Clark, of "Cam Clark Ford" in Airdrie. He's gotten pics and a few rides in it. He says it's an instant woody machine, that takes about an hour for the effects to subside. I'm still working on him to hook me up for a cruise in it. :D

*edit* Oh, and it's the real deal. He won't say how much he paid for it, but he did say it's more than my sup. put into his '68 Mustang. Like that's a shock.

Man, that car is sex on wheels. There's just no 2 ways about it.
I spent about 10 minutes talking with the G/F trying to decide whether it was a kit or not, and the consensus was no, but if it was, it was incredibly well done.

If I had 200k+ I would spend it differently, but I don't fault this guy for spending it how he did. That is one amazing car.

I can understand why people are drooling over this car but that isn't me. IMO looks like a kit car derived in the 70's. That's my opinion so please don't flame me if you are one of the guys cleaning the tip of your dick off after seeing a 1970's derived Ford.

Motor Trend compared it to a Viper & Corvette:

Ford GT ($166,195 US)
11.5 sec 1/4 mile
0.96g skidpad
24.6 sec @ 0.82 MT Figure 8

Corvette Z06 ($68.700 US)
11.6 sec 1/4 mile
1.01g skidpad
24.4 sec @ 0.83g MT Figure 8

Viper SR10 ($87,695 US)
12.0 sec 1/4 mile
1.01g skidpad
24.3 sec @ 0.83 MT Figure 8

For the price of one Ford GT you could buy both the Viper & the Vette which provide near identical performance or better. Best of all, the Viper & the Vette don't look like kit cars.

You COULD by both... but why buy two great cars when you can have one super car? You can only drive one at a time anyways. Plus, its not just about speed if your spending that kinda money on a car.

....and i dont even like the GT that much, i wouldn't spend that much on a ford, but none the less totally completely different league.

Lambo or Ferrari for that price range.

Exactly. When you spend that kind of money you expect an Italian or German made car, not a Ford. Hell they had to sleeve the crankshafts in the initial GT's wich to me is unnaceptable for a car that was in developement for as long as the GT was. Ford is a company that only remains in business because of truck sales, why would you spend exotic money on a car made by a company that specializes in trucks?

I think the Ford was made for the muscles heads who just wanted to pay high price for a muscle car... I mean its pretty damn nice looking for a Ford, but for the price range , i would defiantly jump into a european car.

But I guess each to there own... Hell if you can afford it.. why not ?

Both of those other two will take it on a track, and I sorta thought that was the point of having a supercar ;)

I agree with you there, the GT wouldn't be my first choice, in the end it's still a ford.

I would easily take the viper over this thing. Beautifull car, dont get me wrong but i would rather pay half the price for a car that would out perform it. Plus i would turn my head for a viper, or vette faster than i would for a ford GT. main reason...its a ford.

But then it's modified, so we're not going to compare them. Sure, I could build a half-dozen 1000HP Mustangs for the price of a GT, but who really cares? If we're going to compare cars, we'd better compare them stock-to-stock.

I know a guy who just bought one, and if thats him he's just breaking it in and then I will be able to go to race city for a ride with him =). Fairly badass for a ford, but Id of for sure bougt something italian or german for 250K.

And for the viper, in my opinion, its very poorly built. It has the same radio in it as my friend's mom's PT cruiser, and one reach under the dash revealed a rats nest of wires - I got out of the car immediately and was very very dissapointed. Also there is someting to be said about big displacement, but I prefer when technology and engineering gets me to 500HP instead of 8 liters of motor. Im sure its fun to drive, but that seems lazy IMO.

there is more to a car than 0-60 or skidpad G' s
EVERY exotic borrows parts from lesser cars that does not mean the car is lesser for it. Colin Chapman said about using production parts for his Lotus cars...I could spend 100000 pounds designing and tooling a really nice door handle or I could nick down to the Ford agency and buy one that works better for 4pound and 60pence

Exactly. And what's the demographic of GT buyers? Wealthy, 50-something car enthusiasts old enough to remember the GT-40 laying the smack down to Ferrari? At least a few of the owners fit that description, I guarantee it. It's kind of like owning their own little piece of racing history, in a new rareish, reasonably exclusive car.

I really think that having 300HP in a FWD platform really fucks with your head. Why dont you post another picture of your arms so I can beat off a little bit...

Who gives a fuck what you think about the GT! Its a killer car and has alot more value than a Viper or a Z06, take that into consideration. Who cares who out performs what, If I brought a GT to Barrett Jackson, how much would you think it would go for? A little bit more than the Z06 lets say.

And to top it off, you are bagging on Brad whos car would absolutely smoke all three of the cars!! haha. At least a " Fox-Body has some history and old class. Its not like a neon with a small cycle of Anadrol.... lol
