Hrmm well I have my heart set on finding a 1999+ Grand Am Gt (2 door manual) to finance... How do i start this search? Where shoudl i look first... Call all the dealerships in calgary? Check the autotrader etc... but is there any way i can go to ONE dealership and they can check all locations in calgary for me? are they rare cars ( i see alot but i havent been able to find any in my first few attempts)? any help appreciated

What is this SC/T? Is it like the older Grand Prix MacLaren Turbos?

The last year for the grand am was '05. That one in the pic is just a 02 GT with an 05 hood and spoiler, or an 05 GT with 02 rims. Hard to say. Lots of custom work though. I liked mine when I had it, was a decent car for the city for sure.

Well, I bet you could find a lease return for pretty cheap at one of the Pontiac dealerships. I'm willing to bet they got a fair number of G/As on trade on a new G6. I'd start phoning around. The cars themselves aren't overly rare, but the G6 has been out for a yearish now, so that might hinder your chances of finding one.

The hard part is going to be finding one that is a 5 speed, not very common, as the trannys weren't that good.

yeah but i want to be able to mod this car a bit ;P (picked up a bonneville supercharger for free ;P might toy around with that... if its even possible) and i want it to be my own car so i would rather finance (unless im complete confused about leaseing.... but yeah... the ideal car is the 1999-2005 Grand Am 2 door V6.... and i was really hoping for a manual... lol so im going to start calling the dealerships

Well I can tell you right now there's not going to be any practical way for that supercharger to work. Well, with enough money maybe, but nothing practical. Plus the 5 spds aren't so great on the "handeling power" side of things.

Yeah, all GA's were manual 4 cyl, and auto V6's.....I hated that when I had mine....

Try and find a 2 door Grand Prix. They'll be quicker in stock form, even if you get a GT (3800, n/a). And the GTP (3800 Supercharged) can be a whole lot of fun.

And they don't look that far removed from G/As, you can get Ram Air hoods and the like for them.

97-2003, I've seen them range anywhere from $8000 to $20000. They are all the same car (except for minor differences), so it really varies depending on kms and options etc.

I got rid of my 97 GT V6 3 years ago for $8000, and I ran into it again, they guy who has it now paid $3000 for it....so they are cheap

Pontiac's depreciate faster than anything i've ever seen, (as do all american cars) except maybe cadilliacs, which depreciate the most. I've seen alot of current style grand prix's and bonnevilles for 10-15K.

Yeah tell me about it. My Bonne was sold for $44000ish (have the window sticker) new in 1994, and I bought it in 2003 for $8000

do not buy a car with the 3400 engine, i ahve opne and i am regretting it big time, they have a huge head gasket issue that GM knows aboiut and has acknowledged but is unwilling to recall them for it... most people think its due to the dexcool.

Conversely, N/A 3800s have a similar problem with cracked plastic upper intake manifolds. GM has never admitted to it being a problem. Stick with a Supercharged one ;)

If you get a GA, get a 5 speed 2.2L ECOTEC or 2.4L Twin Cam. Both are barely slower than the GT, and will often run with GT's with minimal mods.

The 3400 is a heap. If you want to mod there are WAY more parts for the 2.2 and 2.4 as they were in J-bodies. There are some massive turbo kits for the 2.2 ;)
