A fresh new thread.
1987 VW GTI 1.8L 16v
American built, thus everything is miles/mph
178k miles on it, but rebuilt within 50,000.. not sure of exact date, but it DEFINITELY doesn't run like a 178k mile old car
Great condition--
-the only rust is on the drivers side fender where the tires rub, otherwise not a spot of rust
-no dents (again, except for the fender being pushed out slightly where the wheel meets it)
-engine is super clean (see pic)
-runs beautifully. Only problem is the heat shield came loose, so there is a humming noise at 2700 rps that happens between 2700-2900 only, otherwise no weird engine noises
-interior is honestly perfect, no tears or anything that I have noticed. Missing the sunroof liner though.. painted beige exactly like the car.
-shaved hatch/emblems
-single rounds grille
-old-skool GTI red/black/silver golf ball shift knob (~$100 from OEM VW)
-slammed on Patec coilovers, height adjustable
-15 inch Passat Estoril wheels
-rare euro front/ream small bumpers with chrome stripe
-all of the door jambs match the exterior paint.
---overall old-skool look, so no side markers, flat beige paint, chrome bits and pieces, old skool seats, mkI chrome mirrors, small doors
-brand new front axle and CV joints.
BRAND NEW WINTER TIRES, USED ONLY FOR 3 DAYS! These cost me $700 installed and they are brand new. Rare very low profile winter tires.
Don't mind the missing door handle on the drivers side, picking up a new one tomorrow.
bad stuff--
-heat shield needs to be tightened (2 minute job as far as I know)
-missing the restraint to stop the shifter from going into reverse, all you have to do it lift it up a bit and it will restrain, just can't go straight over to the left all the way. This is a $2 part from Westside VW
-Interior light doesn't work.. dunno if it's electrical or just a burnt out bulb
-passenger door is slightly misaligned by about 0.25 cm. Not sure how to fix this =/
