No longer as shocking as the 3rd gen when they 1st arrived.

So is this considered a 4th gen or is it a Mid model refresh?

4th gen, mid model refresh was 2 years ago. It's a brand new platform, and more power to the VQ (prob 270) to match Camry's.

Finally no more hideous orange guages!!

The amber and red plastic in the tail lights make it look like its driving really fast so they are blurred

Those in-cabin materials look SO much better (Funny how I said that about the G37 too..must be a trend over there at Nissan?!)

Tight seams from what I could see- the only thing I don't get- what the HELL is that big gaping storage....bin in the front of the shifter-knob all about? They had it in the last car too...

Can't put a stereo in there, can't really but CD's in there. Its just a whole.....

:werd: Looks much improved over the current model imo. The materials look to be of higher quality and better put together.

Interior does look loads better, but what's up with the tail lights...looks like they ran out of materal and stretched the housing. The front head lights do look very similar to the 350Z's though. It will be interesting to see what type of power they put in this thing. I always thought it was a bad move to have both the Altima and Maxima so close to each other, the SE-R must be taking sales away from the Maxima, and if they push power to 270? what are they going to do with the Maxima? 300hp FWD like the Impala? if they switch to a RWD platform than they'll start eating up the G35, not much breathing room IMO.

I'm really liking it!.. can't wait to see the SE-R version... the tail light's are still gay, and for that reason, i won't buy one.. looks like i'll just keep driving my 1988 civic.:nut:

Rumor is the same VQ putting out 270HP to match new Camry. It's not hard considering it's already doing that much is current gen G35.

The new G35 will be over 300HP to match IS350.

Maxima probably can slot between the 2. It doesn't really need more power, just more fancy options to woo the Avalon crowd.

No different than Accord's storage bins. I'm sure the new one can convert to 2-DIN for extra decks, just like the Accord.

When are they going to get rid of the ugly altezza-ish taillights?

heavyD
06-23-2006, 02:54 PM
Yawn. It's not offensive and the interior is acceptable but it looks nearly identical to the last gen. Only Mazda's designers seem to have grasped that fact that some people like a dash of flash as the 6 is still the nicest looking mid size non-luxury 4-door.

Apparently its a Nissan and it holds lots of watter bottles.

We should all piss our pants and jump up and down

Man WHAT THE HECK is with the tail lights?? It looks like the car is injured and it has a scar or it's showing it's fresh wound and blood and blones are showing through. I think they have a right idea of a Z style tail light, but just really poorly executed. I think it's a combination of the shape and the altezza-type look. Otherwise, the front just looks like every other Nissan. Why are all the manufacturers doing this??? It makes their cars so BORING!

Yeah, if only it were not this tinny and plasticky...
Actually after several months driving good ol' German iron - E34, MB W124 - most modern cars seem terribly fragile... :thumbsdow
And I do not even start the charisma and character talk :D :D

As for this new Nissan it seems that its main achievement being looking less ugly than its predecessor. But again, most Nissans of late are no beauty queens... :barf:

Now time to fix the awful Maxima.

Woah, the big improvement to the rear and the interior (dash/console area)! Lovin' the rear end shape and lights. Way nicer than the Mazda6 rear. The interior looks way better quality than current Altima... but that massive grey pop-up cubby-hole lid is pretty ugly (left over from the current Altima I guess).

Besides new headlights it looks like they didn't bother much with the front end though.

In the next year you'll see a huge improvement on Nissan interiors. We got a couple 2007 Quests in the other day and the quality is amazing. Night and day difference, not that that was hard given the last Quest. In reality though could be the best interior out off all Minivans.

The Versa is going to have a very high quality interior when compared to Fit and Yaris.

From what I have heard the new Altima shows very well in person. Everyone I have talked to who has seen it has said the pictures don't come close to doing it justice.

There maybe a coupe version of this? I found this on a site the other day. http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/23/spotted-2008-nissan-altima-coupe/

looks kinda like a G35/350z?

Suprisingly, alot of cars Nissan makes have the same headlights as the 350z. I believe the Nissan Quest (minivan) has the same headlights as the 350z

the only redeming thing about the car are perhaps this 270hp motor and the steering wheel. the wheel is by far the nicest part of the whole car. but you cant buy a car cause the steering wheel is pimp, can you?

New Alty is in.

Material, a bit better but not by much. The grain on the plastic still make it look very cheap and very hard.

Leather is an improvement. Cloth is typical material you'll find in a Civic.

Over all exterior is updated and look quite nice. As exterior styling goes, this is the best of all Japanese right now.
