I know all about the 15 year rule but is anyone temporarily rocking one of these in Canada right now? What kind of attention does it get? That'd be crazy to see on the street, I'd rather see a R34 than a Lambo.

The only way there can be one of those brought in is if its temporary. The beyond.ca booth at SCN has an R34 last year from washington (I think it was from washington)

pretty simple "kit car"

step 1-body
step 2-transmission and drivetran,wheels etc...
step 3-import
step 4-put it toghter

actually all in all it costs a fortune to do this

When I was in Vancouver I saw a gunmetal R33, it had some deep wheels, and all in all it was a sick car. It had Washinton plates. Which I now have to ask, if you register a car at a southern adress, like a "company outpost" in an American location, then drive the car up to Canada, could you drive it around up here without having to pass Canadian regulations? My uncle does this with his semi, he uses a P.O. Box in Saskatchewan to register his truck and trailer over there for cheaper insurance. Just wondering if you could do that with a car.

i heard that in order to have your vehicle registered in another province, you have to be a resident????

When you do that the car needs to be registered to your residence. So then you (as the driver and owner) couldnt have a legal residence here (I am pretty sure). You can bring the car here whilst your here on vacation or if your working here.

This guy explains how he brought in his Fiat Coupe
http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&postid=1265282#post1265282

There was a thread about a guy asking if he could do that with an evo or something from the states, i just cant find it.

EDIT: Found it http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=98064

not the way i was thinking and i believe canadian customs actually looks out for this now, iirc skylines are on a list of cars that will not be considered a kit car.

can't you register it as a custom built car?

like finboy said, you can get around the 15year old rule. and there is a r33 gts-t in ontario and a few others kicking around.

as for the bee-r kit, if you look at the cars on yahoo a couple r32's have that conversion, you just have to pay out of the ass for it

You can also import anything with a wrecked grade on it.

Ever see those big X's on hte auction sheets? haha yeah, those ones.

If you felt like it, I'm sure you could import two R34's. One with rear end damage, and another with front end damage.

im not sure on this so some1 correct me if im wrong but there
are a couple R34's for sale in the states and there's no rule
stating u cant bring an R34 from the states to Canada so if
some1 actually wanted to I think you could get an R34 from there

Lo)2enz0
04-18-2006, 04:43 PM
no you can't bring them up from the states

as for bringing in wreaked cars, unless you put them in a container there is no way they are getting here and that still costs an arm and a leg

I'm no Skyline expert, but I believe I've seen one of each on the streets of Calgary. I'm pretty sure I have.... and they had AB. plates. Yeah, it's not ALL legal.

If you or your family own property in the states, could you buy one, then insure and register it throught the property in the states?? if your insurance company will cover you out of the country that is, however there is the possibility they may want US driver's license, and of course insurance via the states

no you can't bring them up from the states
why not? I checked the not allowed cars list from the states
and skylines weren't on there?

^ If the vehicle never makes it to the states in the first place, it wont be on the list of vehicles that can't be brought up. It saves a LOT of paperwork, there are tons of "JDM only" cars. That were never released outside of Japan, or even as far as Chinese car makers are concerned as well. Its too much paperwork to "dis-allow" ALL the cars/trucks that can't be brought up into canada from the states, so to keep it simple, they just have the rules for the ones that DID make it onto American soil.

So to take apart a newer then 15 year old JDM car, and bring it here in peices, thats how he did it? I've seen him driving that gunmetal R34 around once, it has Alberta plates on it. Didn't manage to see if it was a dealer plate, but I'm quite sure it was just a regularily registered plate.

Does a person have to dis-assemble the car to bring it here in a container?
