one of my fav movies

but whats not to get? gimme a more specific question and ill try and help you understand.

spoiler alert to the few of you that havent seen it.
But basically donnie is trapt in a time warp (i cant remember what the movie calls it, if anything) and hes seeing and doing odd things that hes both compelled to do and trying to figure out the meaning. essencially by the end of the movie when he goes back in time and is in his bed all the bad things are undone and then he dies. Also there is a definate undertone of catholic 'wierdness' (definatly the wrong word because of me being to exhausted to think of the right word)

I havent watched it in about 6 months but thats the main ideas that come to mind

It's a great movie, but really creepy.

I think Donnie is actually the mesiah, and he chooses to die at the end, thus saving humanity. Because if he doesn't die then humanity goes kaput. Or something to that effect.

Original cut is better than the director's cut, but the DC explains more.

im not gonna explain the religious commentary the movie makes. that would be way to much effort and id probably be wrong about enough that id say your better off finding your own conclusions.. (also if you dont know much about the catholic church then it probably wont mean much anyways, however i think it adds great depth to the movie)

what exactly was "wrong" with him is a mystery of the movie. and no hes not a super hero. he didnt choose to go back and "fix" everything that was just his destiny. remember the part with the abyss type things that are peoples paths, well he had his and was only following it. Well maybe its not a total mystery he was cought in some sort of time warp and was goign through it... Why is more the mystery.

I cant speak for anyone else but i like the movie because there is alot of plot and depth. Its a show that you can pick up on alot of different subtleties with each viewing. Also its not typical hollywood. its got an interesting ending that isnt about everything being ok (i hate this when 90% of movies out there feel they need to make everything good at the end of the show) It also forces you to think, you cant just shut down and watch it.

i think the whole idea of the story was donnie pretty much had to make a choice... and he saw ahead in time and knew what would happen in either situation.

either he stays alive, and tries to figure out all that weird stuff, and causing all that trouble (burning down the buildings and whatever else he does i cant' remember its been a while) but it all ads up to him having to deal with that girl he like's death right?

so rather than leaving his room during that plane accident he just stayed there and saved himself (and others) the trouble of his existance altogether.

i think anyway.. lol

ok ok guys, explain how this movie has anything to do with religion. I own it and have watched it god knows how many times and A_3 had a good explaination of the movie but have you thought and his mental condition?

look at what happened, he could have imagined everything that happened or maybe was wondering what it would be like to go through the future and come back knowing which mistakes not to make. being impressed with his wide imagination he realizes how he can better his life.

maybe i am going insane from being up all night
