any take on the Benz 2006 SLK 280?

i'm torn between this and the 2006 Bimmer Z4. Never owned either brand. Be very interested to scoop insights from previous owners / riders...

have you considered the slk 350? if thats the right one... i dunno i just know it has the bigger engine?
i knew somebody that drove that and it hauled ass. i also somebody who drives the z4.. both pretty hard choices, good luck

Yeah, the new slk is the SLK350, I haven't seen the 280 on the streets in Canada yet so I don't know how fast it is, the new SLK is sweet.

Never liked the z4 but I'll try to add an impartial comment to lean towards the Benz, it's a newer body style and it has better resale value (I believe).

except for the obvious (engine / HP).. the 280 and 350 are identical.

SLK 280 has 3.0 L / 228HP / 0-60 at 6.3 / 221 lb-ft torque
SLK 350 has 3.5L / 268HP / 0-60 at 5.7 (automatic) / 258 lb-ft torque

I believe the 280 is brand new for 2006. I am leaning towards the 280 for several reasons: (1) crazy gas price these days; (2) it's about 6 grand cheaper and (3) I can live with the 0.6 sec difference :)

I know the specs of the car inside out.. they both handle crazy well.. but yeah.. thinking in terms of resale value, ride comfort/quality.. 3-5 years down the road

Mercedes Benz quality has made leaps and bounds in the last year or two over the slip up of the past 10 years, I've driven the SLK350 and I absolutely love it.

I've never driven the z4, I'm sure it's an alright car, I just can't stand the way it looks.
