Damn, car designers are going insane - sentras seem to be one of the only cars that gets progressively uglier on each redesign.

Holy crap that's an ugly car.

Is it just me or does it somehow resemble the Cadillac CTS? Well, a smaller version anyways...

But yea, as everyone else mentioned, that shiet is nasty! :barf:

Nissan used to sell a fair bit of Sentra's on the old days but have relegated themselve to bit players in the compact market. Looks like they aren't learning from their mistakes but that's what happens when you play it safe. Name the last new engine Nissan has made. Their 6 & 4-cylinder car engines are carryovers from the early 90's with mild updates over the last 15 years. Their truck & SUV sales are great though and that's where the money's at.

Looks like a boxed up maxima, only more ugly. Why is it so tall? Wonder if there is still gonna be a spec-v.

I actually think it has better styling than the current model. :D

Remember, the new Sentra was suppose to be released a year ago but dealers turned down that design (whatever that was). This current model was put together in less than a year. So I say they did not bad in such a short time. The only problem is that while the lines works on bigger sedans like Maxima/Altima, the same edgy lines doesn't work when shrunk.

It will remain a bit player and will not take any sales away from anyone in this segment with so many new competitors (models from the Koreans, Dodge Caliber, Corolla coming next year etc)

The next innovation for Nissan will be CVT as it will replace conventional auto in all Nissan cars/car-based SUV/crossovers.

But a 135HP powerplant coming from and 2L DOHC engine does sound kind of weak and it's fuel consumption is no-where as good as Civic's 1.8 (Sentra's 28/36 vs Civic's 30/40).

This is a post I made a long whiel back on some Nissan Forums. Those guys weren't too hot on the new design either. You have to keep in mind that it's a "base model" sentra. The SRT4 is a lot nicer than it's base model counterpart IMO as well. Anyway, this is a quick photochop I did just to show what some very minor additions would do for this car.

the base model 02-06 sentras weren't exactly dream lookers either.

Add a lip kit and some wheels and a drop, and what do ya know... a sporty sport compact.

The stock version reminded me of a Maxima (Edit: err Altima) that had just gotten sandwiched by 2 semi's.
The P/Sed version at first glance reminded me of the Mazda 3, with the small trunk, and then it reminded me of a really fat ugly chick, cause it's really fat and ugly.
Though I must agree, it does look 1000x better with the drop/rims/kit. The problem is that it started off in the -10k range for the looks :whipped:

Same problem as the Echo: wheelwells are too big and the wheels are too small. Add to that the fact that she's riding 4X4 style and you have one mufugly car.

the 4.0L and 5.6L are both new engines. I find it impressive they can carryover engines for 15 years and still be right on pace with every other automaker.

I think nissan tries to keep similar stying among it's cars to promote repeat buying, as you mature and need a bigger car. I think I remember reading that a while ago.. this way if they can get ya in a sentra, and and it's an alright car.. well hey "this car kinds looks like the old car, and it's got room for the kids and shit"...

c'mon nissan, step up to the plate and let loose... My fucking sentra isn't promoting me to want a bigger version of it...

the older maxiams still catch my eye all the time.. I love them, up until 2003 was a hot car.....

this kits a bit much, but the lines of the car were good to begine with...

WOW no one likes it??

:(

I was really liking this car. I guess I'm kinda like that. I liked the 02 Civic hatchback when it first came out like a handfull of people then its look slowly caught on so maybe this will too??

:dunno:

But anyways, any hear how much they may go for? The current Sentras start at just under 17gs as listed on their website.

Thats definately the feel i get looking at that picture.

the first picture kinda hit me as the chevrolet aveo sedan....in other terms pure ugliness.
But the side pic made it seem a bit better, but i dont understand why nissan makes all their cars look the same.(e.g. the altima, maxima, and now the sentra)

And i do agree with all those who say that they get uglier with each generation, the ones on the market now are hideous, they are to ugly for their own good.

But if anyone is looking into this i would deffinately sidetrack them and recommend the Honda Fit.

I'm just glad to see when there are people out there that don't feel they have to love honda/acura like it's some sort of religion. :poosie: The new civic isn't anything to write home about either.

Thankfully that's why there are different car makers... to accomodate those with different tastes. that is all. :D

Mazda 3 is hotter and Civic got better mechanicals. Prices should be in the same range of current gen 17-23K. 27 if SER comes back. If you do buy this Sentra, at least it'll be unique because I don't think you'll see much on the road.

But really with 200HP Si Coupe and Sedan this coming fall, Nissan gotta step up a bit in the sport compact wars.

The thing thats bothering me is the lines of the car, they dont flow imo. the bottom of the windows are lower then the hood? im not liking that at all, not to mention the size of the body makes it look like it riding on 15" rims.... :barf:

agreed! sorry I only have mspaint but you get the idea

Made wheels bigger
Brought the window lines up to the hood line
Chopped the ugly rear overhang
Made the roofline less bulbous

Im not entirely convinced that it is better than the original 4-door Echo (which is pretty ugly on its own). The Echo did not attempt to look cool, it just said, i have an economy car which i didn't pay too much for and check out my gas mileage.

Drooling about this car? You're kidding right? The VQ35 is in this car already. It's called the Altima. This Sentra is a small clone of that car and the Altima isn't drool worthy.

04-25-2006, 10:44 PM
so how come this 2 liter 4 banger makes less than the 2 liter 4 banger they used 10+ years ago? the b13 sentras came with 142 hp sr20de's

at least it has cvt.. and get 50% more gas mileage than back then but still.... 140hp out of 2 liters is weeeak

nah not about this specific car.. more about the idea nissan could do something fun and interesting if they had the balls... here's the correct one to match that car:

The window line is rediculous, I hate the fact it's lower then the hood.. That ruins it completely for me. However, the front headlights I like, and the tail lights from what I can tell look like Altima tails, which IMO are ugly as hell.

The new maxima I'm in love with.. I think it looks like a big brother 350Z styling wise. Sort've like the G35 Sedan vs. Coupe.

I hope theres some styling changes, as that side has GOT to go..

And hte headlights remind me instantly of a CTS. Only not as cool.

not gonna lye I'm liking BigMass' take on the car making it a hatch would be alright,
