On the Type R cams there is little microscopic pyramids to hold and catch oil. If you touch them with your hand s you fuk them all up. You won't realize it till a ways later after shit is busted.

What the F*ck are you talking about. Get your shit straight buddy you should always clean before assembly and then use cam lube liberally when actually installing them.

I don't know if I believe that only because the engine itself was hand built so someone from the factory would have handled them too.

Edit:I'm not starting a flame war here, but go look it up. Why would I just decide to make shit up. I am just giving advice on what I read, so don't go apeshit over it.

as always:rofl:
j/k
Here is the stuff. It was the bearings that are designed that way and are to handled minimally.
SURFACE-ORIENTED CRYSTAL BEARING MATERIAL
The use of a surface-oriented crystal bearing material was pioneered in Formula One racing and has been adapted for use in the Type R engine. Unlike the surface of conventional bearing material, the crystal bearing surface has molecules oriented into a pyramid shape. This surface traps a layer of oil and holds it far better than conventional bearing surfaces, reducing friction and enhancing reliability.
