Supposedly a ritual dance that is a war cry or something but they do it before rugby games....pumps em up and scares the shit outta the opponent

KaMA-TE KaMA-TE KAOOOOOOOORREEEEEEE O___O!!!

I love my home country

Haka, btw, is a general term applied to any part of a dance where an aggressive string of movements are used, usually including bulging the eyes and sticking the tongue out and down the front of the chin like a Tiki. Lots of slaps and stomps invoke the war gods and, as Mo said, scare the shit outta your enemies when 500 maori warriors do it in unison  Also, the old haka is called the "Haka Taparahi"

Unfortunately, that's the new Haka (kapa o pango), which I don't think is as powerful as the good old one (haka taparahi).

I remember seeing the Maori team do it when they played in Calgary a couple years ago. That was pretty intense.

yeah, last year i was telling my football team to do it.

but supposedly they didnt allow it...when i played rugby we all did it, on both sides infact. just another part of the game now with fans. but respected worldwide. learned the haka in the 3rd grade back in england! woot! she was hella fine too from my recollection, lol.

The club team I played with (Lock/3rd row) used to do that sorta thing as well. Good fun that is!

Of course, nothing beats the Rugby songs. I think they're world-wide!

Classic, crass and even better when sung at the drink-up!

Awesome rendition. Yes... seeing a Maori charging at me screaming like that, doing that dance... I would drop a log and run ;) But that would only be to get the ball and try to get a try

I stayed in the same hotel as a bunch of the players on the All Blacks a while ago. They were playing a game in Edinburgh (this was back when I lived in Scotland) and I met a bunch of them.
