Black book value

be prepared to argue, a lot. black book on my car is $4500 fair market value is probably roughly twice that, not counting my light mods haha

well i just rebuild the motor, i have put 1500km on the new rebuild :( lady rear ended me on monday and with pacific auto body just glancing at it, he said it maybe just be written off, I have to get my adjuster to come look at it before the body shop can start tearing it apart... it will need new bumper, shit behind the bumper and she hit me so hard that is put 2 dents in the side of the car so flame probably shifted, and the check engine light is coming on :thumbsdow

It pisses me off cuz i looked at work yesterday of the black book valve and its 2500 for exc. condition... plus they will take into effect of the motor rebuild, but still say they write it off, i get lets say 3500, its so stupid cuz i just lost a perfectly good car and was given a shit amount of money.... im not gonna be able to buy a car like i had with everything mint condition to it for 3500.... :(

ya its a fricken rip off.

I been in a few fender benders where it wasnt my fault. lways a good idea trying to get paid cash from the person responsible. Just get a quote at an autobody shop and see if she will pay you for that amount. This way her insurance company dosnt know and her premiums dont skyrocket.

How can you tell I have done this before?

well the trick to all that is at first the insurance company is gunna low ball you, but if you show them the auto trader you can usually get what the cars worth sometimes even more. my neighbor had his 98 cavalier z24 written off and he showed the insunrance company enough recipts for 9g's and they gave him 9g's even tho the car is only worth say 6, so the trick is dont take their first offer

legacy is right .. do your homework on price. Then when its all said and done, ask them if you can buy it. You'll pay wrecker price, but at least you may get a shop to rebuild it. If you don't mind living with "rebuild" on the title, you get all your car back. 'course, come selling time ... well, you won't get squat for the car.

The three sources I've seen my father research prices to use for valuing cars is the Auto Trader, Bargain Finder and his online database that lists what dealers have sold them for.

As for the above comment - if you've had anything special done to the car, be sure to mention it. If you have a $600 CompuStar, or something.

this is why you should slways get your car appraised, it saved me about 10 grand when my car was written off

Yeah, the trick is to high ball. When I wrote my car off the insurance companie appraised my car at 5100. Then they asked me how much I thought it was worth. I told him at least 8300 sternley and I ended up 6700. Just be smart about it and dont be a push over. Insurance companies will try to screw you hard in every way.

good luck:thumbsup:
