How much does an STi's (04-05) stock decklid/spoiler combination weigh? How much does a regular WRX decklid/spoiler weigh? If you bought a spoilerless CF trunk, would it be worth the weight savings (plus aesthetics and all that)

If you can answer any of those questions, thanks:thumbsup:

they acatually do weigh abit compared to the rexes

if you want wingless/light go for a spec c aluminum trunk. weighs light, probably lighter than cf. and dont even bother with a cf hood, cuz they weigh the same as the stock aluminum hood.

edit: the spec c trunk is wingless. on japanparts.com and is roughly 350 CDN.

is that a generalized statement or is that just subbies?

im not sure about other imports and the weight of their hoods, but on nasioc.com they actaully weighed some cf hoods and they ended up being the same or heavier than the stock aluminum hood. if it was a steel hood like that on the ts's then the cf would be lighter.

Oh, I didn't know the STi had an aluminum decklid.

i've read somewhere that the sti spoiler/trunk is quite a lot heavier than a rex, so much so that subaru used stronger springs to open the trunk. so putting on the far lighter wrx decklid made for some serious highspeed trunk openage :burnout:

^^ true that. The CF trunk will turn into a catapult. It will also spring up so fast that the bolts will tear out of the trunk and slam the trunk into your rear windor ....

I have a STi trunk setup with my WRX springs right now. Needs some help opening because of the weight, but its not a huge difference. I wouldn't want to have the opposite though, thats just asking for trouble...
