Why is it that every bike I see has 1 headlight burnt out? Is it daytime running lights that only 1 goes on?

Left headlight is low beam and right headlight is high beam.

Not that stupid of a question. You'd be surprised how many times a 'helpful' person has told me that one of my headlights is burnt out.

Daytime running lights are the same as low beams on a bike.

Some bikes like CBRf4i's have two lights and one looks burnt out, but it is actually the high beam. So only one side is working unless brights are on, then both work.

some owners do a mod to have both of them on in lowbeam.

The reason for it is, if a car see's you approaching with both lights on, they seem small and close together giving them the idea it is a car that is far away.. With one light on (presuming most will turn off their high's when approaching an upcomming car, a lot of guys don't) then the car see's the one light and pays more attention to it....

I couldn't believe that like 97% of the bikes in calgary had one light burnt out..
