I'm quite surprised that the 350z doesnt come with a sunroof! How much would it be to put on in? Kinda stupid if you ask me...

They have one with a really large sunroof actually. It's called a roadster. :)

Aftermarket sunroofs are a mistake IMO. You're asking for trouble.

Sunroofs on sports cars are Dangerous and just add extra weight...

Extra weight?! give me a break! I doubt it makes that much of a difference on a car like that.

Well when you add a sunroof to any car, it reduces the structural integrity of the car, which then results in the manufacture adding extra support around roof of the car, that and the weight of the Sunroof really adds up.
They also don't add sunroof to most top of the line Sports cars because it upsets the overall balance of the car due to the weight.
The Evo (i forget which Model) switch's out the stock galvanized steel roof for a aluminum one, as does the current model BMW M3 CSL but instead of aluminum they use the carbon Fiber...

Type R didn't come with one because of weight savings. Every pound counts. It's free "hp".

And the 350Z really needs it too. It's a pokey little car. :D

So I guess having a roadster version is less weight? I don't see how a drop top will be safer:confused:

it isn't, the roadster is even heavier than a car equipped with a sunroof...

Roadsters again have more structural support, to make up for the removal of the top part on the car body...

yea just did some research as the roadster is 250 lbs heavier then the coupe. I guess it depends what you buy the car for, daily driven you wont really care about the extra weight, well at least thats my opinion.

Ok, comparing a Type R to a 350Z in any way other than the amount of wheels they have is rather silly. They've got nothing in common; the Type R has no sound deadening and was a daily-driven track car. The 350Z is a chubby car with a V6 to make up for it... like a chubby girl with big boobs. A sunroof would be no big deal on a GT car like a 350Z:dunno:

With such small roof, my guess is that if a sunroof is to be made, it would have to extend toward the exterior which isn't that reliable in long term.

Go for roadster if you want some sun. It's more fun anyway. And both porkers are more of a cruiser than racer so who cares about weight.

The reason for the lack of a sunroof in the 350Z is the roof line. There is not enough room...

They want you to buy the Roadster!!

Anyway .. for their shape .. if they can put a sunroof .. wll be those metal sunroof that go OUT of the car .. ( like those old RX7 )

Or .. if they do .. will be a FIXED roof .. can only tilt up .. :dunno:

Most important .. PRICE ! for $45K .. you get a near 300HP car .. what can you expect? they are nice car, but cheap interior, and no roof .. just 1/2 price of a CaymanS ! ;)
