hi there! im currently an assistant building operator in downtown (just started this monday may 1). i mainly changed lights and i have to dospose them too. we have a machine that crushes fluorescent lamps but still there are still a significant amount of vapour/powder that comes out from doing it...im worried about the long term effects of this and dont really know how to properly handle them...do i need a gas mask/respirator? im going to be doing this quite often so please let me know what can i tell my employer.....thanks!

If you're concerned, it's always best to "cover and insulate," namely cover all exposed skin possible, as well as wearing eye protection, and insulate your breathing system, namely a mask with a good micron or hepa filter.

definately wear a mask. Fluorescent lamp tubes have a tiny amount of mercury vapour in them.
