New mods for 2006: Check out the new look

After a hard year of school and an EXTREMELY long winter in Saskatoon me and my brother got to work on installing new mods after getting back in town last week. Trying to keep the car clean with nothing too extreme. There is alot of stuff that I COULD do but I don't think I'll bother becuase I really like the way it looks right now (I like a simple clean look). Things like the orange sidemarkers...some would get rid of them but I think it suits the look that the car has going.

New mods include:
GLI front
GLI'd headlights (outer chrome piece painted black)
Painted rear valence
Polished turn down tips
Painted tail lights Red/Smoked/Smoked/Red (european GTI tails are like this..)
2.0L MAF

Didn't have time to take a drive out to the country so street shots will do for now.

Big ups needs to go out to my younger brother who did all the paint work. I helped with the sanding and what not but when it came time to paint he has got it down like none other. Believe it or not....that GLI lip was also painted using cans (both paint and clear coat). The job is flawless.

I know people are going to ask about the tails. They were painted using regular black spray paint. I've seen people on VWVortex paint their tails with VHT and it looks like SHIT imo. These tails were done PROPER by being wet sanded, painted, and then clear coated. As you can see they are just as glossy as the rest of the paint which is the exact look that I wanted. I will post pics of how they light up tomorrow night. Once lit you can barely tell that there is paint there (signal light + running light portion of the tails have been painted).

i think if you painted the top part of the tail light as well, it would really fuckin good, and i dont know about having the yellow marker on the bumper and the clear on the fender, just kind of non-linear, but lookin good, i wish the paint on my car would come out that nice

IMO on black cars less = better
Meaning I think if you got the "Jetta" and "TDI" badges shaved that the look of your car would change drastically. Oh and make your upper side marker on your fender orange.

That would make your car look even better.

How big are those rims anyways?
They look like 19's but I'm goign to say 18 just cause of the profile of your tire.

Yes I have thought about debadging but I have to represent that it's a TDI (it's a TDI thing haha, I know so many people who don't debadge or partially debadge by just removing the JETTA since they want to keep the TDI letters on the rear).

Man o man I just love the way it looks now, really happy with the way all the stuff turned out. Getting up the driveway is a pain in the buttocks though. I've got about 1mm gap when approaching the driveway at a crazy angle. Anything less and it will definatley scrape.

Hahaha good point, when I was looking at the pics I can't really see half of your tire since you're tuckin', but not that I look a bit closer I can see the tread and those are pretty damn thin tires.

Dang! Looks even nicer than what you had last year. Good luck driving around Saskatoon though... When I put my 17s back on during finals, I thought the potholes would knock everything I had crammed into my head right out!

one of the nicest vdubs i think iv seen my friend has a 1.8t 2000 he only wishes it was that nice damn all you could possibly do to make that thing nicer would be a black badgeless grill and your set would do nothing else

Wheels don't go to Saskatchewan :). I take them off before the school year starts (which unfortunately means that I only get barely 4 months of use :(). Front lip is going to have to be removed too, the isht is LOW.
