:rofl: :rofl:

You're kidding me right? Do you know how fast the Earth is travelling through space and how much energy would be required to actually change earths course or orbit around the sun?

Even if you could do it, there's no telling what repurcussions there would be, would the axis of the earth shift? This would throw off the seaons and you'd see some very, very ugly weather, I can't even imagine what effect that would have on wild life...

First of all, it's stupid.

Secondly, it's impossible unless something the size of the moon crashes into earth.

Third, it's stupid.

I didn't really read the page because it's an insult to my intelligence, but I hope they don't want everyone to jump at the same time, because that wouldn't work because the world is round.

Again, this is just plain stupid.

I think you forgot to mention that it is fucking stupid...

Alright, where's that huge writeup I did on this last year... :rofl:

Edit: Found it, I posted it on a different forum:

Interesting question!

Let's assume that each person jumping has an average mass of 70kg, and can jump an average of 0.5m.

The kinetic energy transferred to the earth's crust by each person is Ke=mgh

Ke = (70kg)(9.81m/s^2)(0.5m)

Ke= 343.35 J per person.

Ke(total) = (343.35)(7,000,000,000)

Ke(total) = 2.40345 x 10^12 J total

The crust of the Earth makes up a mere 0.374% of its total mass.
The mass of Earth is 5.9742 × 10^24kg.

Thus, m(crust) = (5.9742 × 10^24)(0.00374)

m(crust) = 2.234 x 10^22 kg

To create earthquake-like effects, we'd have to cause the earth's crust to flex (thus creating the earthquake-like waves). A light earthquake would have a surface wave height of approx. 10cm. Thus, to get earthquake-like results, we have to generate earthquake-like energy. To counteract the crust's potential energy and cause that 0.1m change, we need to calculate the potential energy of the crust.

Kp = [m(crust)](g)(d)

Kp = (2.234 x 10^22 kg)(9.81 m/s^2)(0.1m)

Kp = 2.192 x 10^21 J

Therefore, the energy needed to create surface waves, divided by the energy exerted on the earth's crust by jumping everyone is:

Kp = 2192000000000000000000 J
/ Ke = 2403000000000 J
---------------------------------------------
= 912193092

We would need 912 billion times more people jumping to cause that effect. Human beings just don't have enough mass, nor can they jump high enough, to cause earthquakes!

OK, it's fixed!

Thats simply moronic.

EVEN if it was possible to move the earth, assuming the US took part with all of their overweight people the gravatational force of the sun would pull us right back into the same orbit.

haha i was thinking about this today, if everyone jumps, the earth is round and people jumping on one side would counter act the force of peps on the other side, also there would have to be a big chage for all the stuff they are saying to come true, nothing that could be caused by people jumping anyways
