I knew the controller would stay pretty much the same.

Not bad, kind of a boring press conf.

Sony is going the full xbox live route..

-single gamer tag
-downloadable demos
-micro transactions
-downloadable music, videos

Also its suppose to be free for basic use..this is a plus.. maybe xbox will lower the price of xbox live gold or make it free..

The Sony Conference is in full swing right now and a lot of cool things are coming out of it. I will be updating this post as more things happen, but here are the main points so far:

Major News Update #1: New Controller

New Dual Shock Controller offers 6 degrees of freedom by working much like the Nintendo Wii controller! This is amazing news for the PS3.

Major News Update #2: Pricing Revealed

Sony announced the pricing for the system. A PS3 equiped with a 20gig HD will retail for $499 while a PS3 with a 60gig HD will retail for $599. Two million units will ship at launch and an additional 2 million will ship by March 2007. I smell Ebay whoring...

Every PlayStation 3 will ship with a hard disc drive.

World Launch will be in November of 2006.

More tha 10,000 developer kits for the PS3 have been shipped and final kits are shipping now.

17 Million PSP's shipped so far.

100,000,000 PS2's shipped so far, they expect 10 million more to ship.

Over 1 Billion PS2 games shipped.

Sony said they will support the PS2 for many years to come.

Update 1:

Sony shows off Gran Turismo HD in 1080p.

Phil Harrison shows off the E-Distribution for the PS3 and talks about PlayStation Cards and other methods of handling money transactions.

SingStar PS3 is shown (karaoke game) and it allows online music downloads as well the ability for people to upload their performances.

Various games are shown so far such as Genji 2, Heavenly Sword (said to look awesome), Formula One, The Getaway, Lair.

Update 2:

Few more games shown such as Monster Kingdom, Afrika and Golf.

Phill shows off a couple of new games (no titles available)

Ted Price shows off "Resistance: Fall of Man" a Call of Duty type game set in an alternate universe where no World War 2 happened.

Update 3 (6:23):

Demo's for the following games shown:

Coded Arms Assault, Assassin's Creed, Gundam, Ridge Racer 7, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, Tekken 6, Armored Core 4, Sonic, Virtua Tennis 3, Virtua Fighter 5 , John Woo Presents Stranglehold, Fatal Inertia and Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War.

Update 4 (6:36):

EA Shows off NBA Live and new Tiger Woords games and of course, many new details making use of the PS3's power are highlighted.

EA also announces that 10 games are in development, including Madden, Need for Speed Carbon, Army of Two, Medal of Honor Airborne.

Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII shown.

A realtime(?) Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer is shown and some people shit their pants.

Update 5 (6:44):

Kuturagi shows off the new PS3 controller which pretty much looks the same but has some new features... that result in the crowd shitting their pants again because the new controller acts just like Nintendo's Wii Controller!

Pretty sure that was CG..

After playing my 360 in HD since Nov, I was not really impressed with any of that.. Although I missed MGS4. Pretty blah response from the press in attendance, execpt for MGS4..

I cant wait for MS's conference tomorrow.

Also the Cheaper version of the PS3 is minus a few things.

-No wifi
-No memory stick/sd card slots
-No HDMI (wtf is the point of 1080p blu ray with out this????)

Also they had to drop the rumble from the controllers as it interferes with the sensors in the rip off of the Wii controllers motion detection. lol

If Sony does go the free on-line route, MS probably gonna free gold live. But for people who bought it or have credits left, wonder if they'll convert them to points.

MGS4 look good but I smell CG and not Realtime. Nothing really knock your socks off as everything been done before, no innovation here, just plain copying Wii and 360. Once again, its savior will be the titles, which doesn't look impressive at launch but will look better in 07.

Pricing as predicted. But 360 having the core console may actually get the parents votes as most parents buy on price not function.

So who's gonna get a bunch of PS3 and dump them on Ebay for a nice profit? :D

They said it was free.. however they did not say the free version included online matchmaking... they left that detail out.
