The best wheel EVARRRRRR!!!!!!

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/news/US/EN,contentid=12020,crid=34

Highlights:
900* mode (drives just like a DFP, the best wheel out there)
Stronger force feedback than DFP
11 inch wheel (more like a real wheel)
Real shift paddles
Sequential shift mode

last but not least...
CLUTCH PEDAL and SIX-SPEED GATED SHIFTER!

All for merely 300USD, which sounds like a lot but is actually a steal. The next-least-expensive kit is 450USD, and that's made by a much smaller company, Act Labs, which unfortunately tries to produce good products with good support but just can't match the R&D of a corporation like Logitech, or their support.

ACT Labs makes a nice setup but rumor is that it may come back.

Guillemont use to have a nice setup but I havent read much after they took over thrustmaster

I've heard it's a really nice wheel, but the extra features such as the gated shifter and clutch aren't all that great.

I've read that people find the shifter very clunky and flimsy feeling.

As for the clutch, it has no detents on it, no feel. It's a on/off switch that has no detent for where it engages. So really you have zero feel on it, no different than assigning a button on your wheel to clutch.

But on the other hand the wheel is supposed to be amazing. The force feedback is great b/c it uses 2 motors and the 900d of rotation really adds to the smooth feel.

The next cheapest system comparable to the G25 is about 700 bucks. Sure, you can complain about the clutch not being as good as you expected, but considering Logitech came in the market at 1/3 or 1/4 the price of their competitors they did a FANTASTIC job with this wheel.

I agree, I don't think they could make a proper acting clutch really.

So it comes down to why you buy the wheel. If you want a smooth, precise wheel it's the tits. If you are buying it for the clutch and shifter you will probably end up being disapointed.

is the shift knob switchable:D
i wonder how well it's supported in games like GT4
how would the clutch work?

what games would even support all the features of this wheel

could you just assign the pedal as the clutch in the key settings?
and the 6 speed gear shifter how would that work since upshift is a button and downshift is another.

Ill definately buy this if it works with games like TOCA and GTR2

GTR2, rfactor and RACE all have setting presets for the G25 (I'm sure more games do too)

I bet this game would work great with Toca if you could get it to work... I couldnt get my friends 900 degree logitech wheel to work with it though, pissed me off.

that gear shift looks a little flimsy..you know when you get into the game and start hammering shit like the throttle and then in turn the gear shifter gets slammed up and down...looks like it would just break off.

Well, I wandered into the Futureshop downtown Toronto (Yonge and Bloor), and they had two G25's. Needless to say, they had one less when I took my Christmas present home.
Expensive, but definitely a step up. I've had wheels since my faithful Thrustmaster T2, and this is the highest quality yet.
I will compare it to the black Momo, since that's what I have been running lately. Build quality is very high, and a lot of nice touches are built in. The clamping system is fantastic, and there's even a way to screw the units down, if you really want them planted firm. The shifter appears to be built for rough handling, the clamping system is extra- heavy duty, and the shifter shaft is stout metal. I haven't looked inside, but appearances lead me to believe it's tough.
There's only two buttons on the wheel, and miss my six on the Momo. But the software has a scrolling program, so you can program a button to go through, let's say, F1, F1, F3, and F4 by repeated pushing. Sweet. Also, you can easily change the wheel rotation via the gamecontrol software. Want 900? No problem. Want 360? Easy as a couple mouse clicks to set it that way. I also fired up GTR@, and easily programmed the wheel for the six speed gated shifter. And it was sweet, just like the real deal, slamming the gears, clutch action, all the fun stuff.
My only real beeef is the stitching on the wheel, there's a lot where the thumbs rest. The first time I put in a long session, I was sore on the inside of my thumbs. It can be fized, but it's something the pople at Logitech missed.
But the heart of the matter, the actual driving and controlling is very good. Very good. Very, very good. It really does steer, gas, and brake much better, and with greater precision.
Thumbs up, and definitely worth it to me.

GST(6%): $12.17
YOUR TOTAL: $214.94 CAD

Can't buy it now cause I'm broke. If somebody can buy&play for a few weeks and want to sell it to me for 150 bucks, I'm for it. heh.

I've been waiting for this wheel to be on sale for months now and it's time to make that purchase but why does it have to end before I even get my student loan money!!!

p.s. I'd like to know if this is compatible with PS2 or PS3. If you buy it to play with either of those and find out it's imcompatible, you can always resell it here. :P
