2002 C230 coupe with evolution pkg ..7,000 KM (but no Sunroof !!!:guns::banghead: oh..man..I love sunroof....) $35000
2002 Audi A4 quattro 14,000 km $38000

I get the Audi... Actually, I want to get an Audi... cept no one has bought my car yet!

The coupe is a wannabe Merc... that is just my opinion by the way.

Is the Audi really that much better than the C230?
Yah, i know the ass of the C230 doesn't really match...but still like it more than an A4...And one of my friends keeps saying i should get one...
if your poor, like me, Glenmore has a 97 and a 98 A4 1.8t for 19 and 20,000 respectivly. btw, New w/ No Metallic Paint, Leather, and Evo package + Xenon, the Benz is about 300 dollars less then an a4 quat w/ leather + Xenon...
C230 Should be faster i think...

You mean this sunroof? Looks like a factory option only. I wouldn't want it retrofitted... looks pretty complex.

The 2002 A4 has a 4 yr full warranty and includes maintenance. You won't have to worry a single thing other than gas money until 2006. By then, it's time to get a new car anyways.

Well a pulley is easy to see and so is an intake. Granted, the dealer has to prove that your mod caused a failure in order to deny warranty, but why take the chance?

The chip programmers like Neuspeed, APR and GIAC can make their programming undetectable to the dealers computers.

Also, what do you use a car for? Is it to get from A to B? Do you take your friends? I want to get rid of my AV6 cause it drives me nuts when people climb in and out of the back. I would rather have 4 doors.

I will most likely get an Audi because of the warranty and service. I know that it is built into the price, but I would rather pay it up front than have to fork over $300 every oil change.

After the first year, Audi Canada only covers yearly maintenance. So I have to pay for the oil changes between the annual services, or do it myself.

Another thing they don't cover is synthetic oil. During the included service intervals, they only supply dino oil. I just bring my own synthetic, but I don't get credit for the crappy oil they saved.

What year is your Audi? My cousin has never paid for anything on his last 3 Audis...

Weird... he had a 99 A4, and then crashed it... got a 01. He just picked up an A6 in January cause the lease rate is really good.

Hmmm... I thought they covered EVERYTHING for 4 years... maybe I won't be getting an Audi after all...

In 99, I believe they had a 3-year maintenance program which was probably more comprehensive. Perhaps they've just stretched the 3-year program over 4 years with the same dollars so something's gotta give.

The 01 A6 included maintenance might also cover more than the A4/S4 of the same year. :dunno:

Oh well, my first "not-included" oil change is coming up in 2 months and I look forward to doing it myself.

How much did you guys pay for the oil change ?? How about just go to a EXPRESS oil change store ?

Dunno since my first paid oil change isn't due yet. From what I gather, they will charge about $10/L x 7 L, maybe 1/2 hr labour at say $90/hr, and $35 for the oil filter. So that's roughly $150 plus tax at the dealership.

Doing it myself, I get the oil for $7/L x 7 L, and $15 for the oil filter (got hooked up with a 6-pack of OEM filters), so that's about $64 plus tax.

For my car, I wouldn't take to an quickie-lube place because there is a splash shield that might be a bitch to remove for anyone unfamiliar with the car.

Hmmm, the Audi A4 1.8T, is 39,800ish with what i want, while the Benz C230Kompressor, is 39,600ish with what i want...
Yet, the Payments on the Audi seem a lot higher w/ the same downpayment, and a similar rate...Is that cause the Residual's lower?
Benz has between 63 and 58% Resid....

In a year, i could also be considering both these cars...since im forced to save...Friend wants me to get the Audi, but i kinda like teh C230...

The A4s are selling well and don't need an incentive lease or finance rate. The C230 may not be selling as well. That residual is high... 3 years?

I've heard quite contrary from the dealers themselves and it's quite evident in the marketing. Sales here are decent, but not what they were hoping. Hence why there are incentives on the A4 and why they will move so much on the price. For most of 2002 and beginning of 2003, I've seen a lot of their special financing/lease ads. Despite them saying that they're limited time, you see the same ad run month after month but with a different expiry date.

I'd go for the Audi over the Merc.

Weird... the lease rate on the A4 is 7.8%, while on the A6 it is like 3.2%

What are these deals you are talking about? I haven't seen them in the paper. Are they somewhere else as you only specified "ads."

What is the service like on your IS300? I assume that is what you drive.

I haven't looked for them in the last while, but I did notice one in January. I was scouring the newspapers for these ads prior to and for quite a while after I bought my car. I'm almost certain they were 3.9% finance/lease, but I think I remembered it dropped to 2.9% at one point (I could be wrong; I can't remember). There were usually these 1/4 page ads that had a pic of the A4 from the front 1/4 view w/ base price of the 1.8T and the rates. I pretty seriously considered the A4 for quite a while.

The service is awesome at Lexus. They totally take care of you there. I've only been in twice for regular service, but it feels so odd for a dealer to actually "care" so much about the customer. They are extremely accomodating. I got an ES300 loaner last time - that is a SMOOOOTH car. But I've only been in twice...who knows what might happen next time, but from the reputation they have, I doubt I'll ever experience anything negative from them.

Lexus needs a roadster convertible! Actually, they should get an entire convertible line up! Haha

Lexus is #1 in the industry for service, I would not expect anything less!

Interesting. I can speak from my personal experience:

00 S4, 3yr all inclusive warrantee. they even covered all my nuisance complaints about the sunroof and squeaky seats. warrantee ends this month and i jump to the Audi Assured crap for 2 years.

03 A4, 4yr all inclusive warrantee. covers all.

I guess I'll have to bitch at Glenmore Audi next month to see if they cover my intermediate oil changes. Anyway, I can't wait to see the 04 S4.

i had a 99 S4 come in to work the other day, i had the chance to work on it and i was so excited lol. ya the skid plate is a pain but its really not that bad. alot of cars have skid plates so were used to them.
if you ever want an easier place to do it, you can come in and i can do it for you at now charge if you bring the oil and the filter.

I saw the new S4 at the car show. It is a lowered A4 with AVUS rims and chrome mirrors. It also has those wings on the doors like the all-road. Too bad it is gonna be over $70,000. It is amazing that they could shoe-horn that V8 in there.
