I know we're all trying to improve our hobby and evolve to another level. What is you're goal to achieve in photography this year, and do you have an example of what you'd like the results to be?

I'd like to learn to take these outdoor fashion style photos. I'm pretty sure I have all the equipment required, but it'll take some work to reach the level I want.

This is the kind of style I'm talking about:

Excellent question, I'm not sure what my goals are. I'm going to have to give this some thought...

I'm currently aiming to take "cinematic" angles.

To get a quality camera, and actually get into the photo hobby. I do a little here and there, but the camera I have now is terrible. I also want to attend some of the walk arounds to pick up tips and tricks.

Hopefully next week to pick up a nice new Nikon D70s. I've been a Canon fanboy for the last 5 years but with the size of the new Rebel I just don't like it. So time to switch and the D70s fits so well in my hand I just can't pass it up, and its got more features than the D50. Its a good graduation present I think.

As to goals for photography I plan to get into shooting more landscapes and see if I can find a good polarizing filter to help out with the colouration. I'd also like to get some more shots of sports and learn how to best approach shooting in a hockey arena since the last ones really did not turn out.

My goals are pretty easy...but I dunno if I will acheive them.

Essentially just to get away from the automotive shooting and get into other types of photography. The downtown shots I see DJ Lazy, and D'z Nutz post blow my mind...and different angles and shadows are something I wanna expiriment with.

Goals for the year..

1. Work on improving my framing on shots. I seem to be doing to much cropping during post processing to get the shot that I would have preferred first of all.

2. Patience.... Patience... Patience.. I seem to be slowly getting away from the "shoot like its film" mentality, and really coming up with sub par captures (IMO).

So those are two things that am/will be working on. Other than those... just want to get out more. :D

Continue my commercial sales side/large order reproduction rights, and maintain my magazine articles. Travel more. Continue archetectural work, and aquire more lighting equipment.

Also need to procure a better website, and perhaps share more of my work.

1) More dramatic black and white portraiture:

2) Studio style fashion shots

Both with film, of course.

It'll probably be years until I'll get where I want, but those'll be my goals.

Hello everyone, long time no see :)

My goals would be to make it through the summer (lots of weddings going on) and then concentrate on selling my photography. Not in terms of portraits and weddings, but selling prints of my work. I've been making a little headway with this in the last year, but I havent had much time to work on it. I also have a few magazine articles to do this summer so I'm making it a goal for those to turn out well too!

My wife did some stuff like that for a school project last year. Basically drag your strobes outside and play with a variety of angles. The combonation of natural light with studio lighting is REALLY popular right now.

You will notice by the shadows that there is at least one strobe being used (above and to the right of the surfboard).

Good luck!

Learn to take pics of people. Not portraits, but more candid things. Work on my landscape and cityscapes.

My goal is to develop model portfolio's and then be a fashion photographer.

I will be doing a lot more work for the Hitmen and Flames next hockey season.

But, my immediate goal is to do more commercial work. Too bad hockey season is over for the Flames. I was in Anaheim shooting for the Blaze magazine. My photo's didn't get published because it was for the 2nd round. :(
