Why would you bring in a RHD one when you can get LHD ones from the rest of Europe (if it isn't the guy from England).

They're turbo FWD. I know that for sure.

yeah they are a turbo i think 1.8 litre. very popular in euro when i was living back there my neighbour had the same car. But in brithis green colour.Nice lookin but when it comes to fiat everybody knows one thing: when something brakes everything breacks. They are ok for litle european economi cars or the eurotransporter vans they make but they are not built very strong at all. My dad had a fiat ducati and it was a great car but the moment you start having some litle problems with the engine everything starts goin wrong.

Here's a link to the thread covering this car and the guy who owns it. Apparently, the engine is dumping out 300+hp.

Hi,

It's my car you've been spotting. I't been off the road for the winter whilst I carry out some work on it and avoid the gravel on the roads.

Over the winter I've:
Painted and fitted a new passenger wing mirror as the old one was vandalised.
Removed two dents from roof.
Fitted an uprated rear anti-roll bar.
Retrimmed front seats in leather as the old leather was cracked.
Fitted leather gear and handbrake gaters made from the same leather as seats.
Fixed oil and water leaks from engine.
Fitted new oil filter
Changed oil.
Removed B pillers, filled badge holes and repainted.
Refitted rear window surround.
Removed slight overspray from rear side windows rubbers.
Fitted new door stay on drivers side.
Changed fuel filter.
Fitted new fuel filter cover.
Fitted new handbrake cables.
Fitted ECU diagnostic display in drivers air vent.
Fitted different downpipe.
Fitted custom made cat bypass pipe.

So as you can imagine once all this was done and the weather improved I was very keen to get it back on the road and drive it around!

Cheers

John

Even if he wanted to he couldn't, it's only legal for him to drive it here.

UK magazine CAR once described the 5 cyl Turbo as 'one of the most frighteningly fast cars' they had ever driven. Can be a handful apparently.

He is here on a work visa, the car is here for 2 years i think it was. He is not aloud to sell it, but the car is legally landed in canada.
I talked to him at a beyond meet back in october

Stock, the turbo version was good for 6.5 sec 0-100 kph. I think it was a bit over 200 bhp.

Not bad for a late nineties car.

What kind of duties would we be talking about to bring one over here?

the kind where they impound your car and destroy it

like the thread says you have to move here from another country on a work visa and even then you can only have the car for a couple years

Are you sure? I thought the only difference between a 15 year old car and a 5 year old car was the amount you would have to pay CRA.

Nevermind, Rahim is correct. I googled this:

http://www.europeancarweb.com/features/0510ec_canadian_vehicle_laws_r32/

"Vehicles manufactured for sale in countries other than Canada and the United States do not comply with the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act, CANNOT be altered to comply and CANNOT be imported into Canada. The only exceptions to this rule are vehicles fifteen (15) years old or older as determined by the month and year in which the vehicle was manufactured and buses manufactured before January 1, 1971."
