what are some ways that can possibly get a car with a SR20DET power plant to pass emissions? High flow cataltic convertor? or some other junk (yes i'm a newbie)

ya, i guess a high flow cat or 2 would help, but we really dont have these problems up here, so were probably not the best folks to ask.

Well if you live in Cali your farked no matter what. This is a prime example here of why it suck so much to live in Cali and have a sr20det. This is a post on www.freshalloy.com that is being disscussed right now.

Simple. Stuff it in a pre 1972 car that is emissions exempt. I suggest a 1972 2 door Datsun 510:D

i mean if they can get R34s street legal here, they should be able too right?

NO. The reason the Skylines are legal in USA is becasue Motorex had to crash test them, and then do certain "modifications" to make them pass emissions, which was recognized by the govnt in short. While the sr20det has not gone through any of these steps to legalize it for public road use. There has been talk of Motorex trying to have the sr20det pass emissions but like many things are just words and rumors.

BTW, SR's are not OBD compliant.

Yes you can get it to pass emissions, with luck and the right parts and tuning. I kinda do not feel like explaining it right now. Do a search on freshalloy.

i remember reading a post on www.zilvia.com, that sr20det was legal(ized) in some states... i cant remember which ones? Didnt pay to much attention to it..
