the 318is is dohc....which is moe powerful than the 318i...

and actually the 318is does have a better hp to weight ratio than the ae86...318is has a 28hp advantage on the ae86...

and it pains me to say this, but nick has tons more skillz than me :(

If I remember correctly, you're gonna need to do some major rhettrosfitting to get an m3 swap done. The whole engine bay layout is different and smaller due to the 318's being a 4 banger..
