So, its my first post in this forum. Today i picked up a Kodak DX6490, i was told this would be a great starter camera for someone who wants to take professional-esque shots. so as soon as i got it i headed to my back yard and played with the settings a bit and snapped about 100 shots. Heres 4.

Critiques Welcome...

Yeah, #2 and #3 look great, especially #3! You might want to run that through some noise reduction software like Neat Image or Noise Ninja to clean it up a bit.

Keep 'em coming! (But maybe don't post such big resolutions!)

The noise reduction filter in PS isn't very good to be honest.. there are other dedicated programs, like D'z mentioned, that work alot better..

Do you mean CPL/PL filters?

Good first time shots. Noise is an issue. What ISO were you running at??

Well, according to your 2nd pic's EXIF info, you were shooting in 'Action mode' So basically, you forgot to set it to the proper mode, in this case macro would have been the obvious choise.

Which would explain the uber noise seen here. As Action mode needs a higher shutter speed, in this case the camera opted to bump up the ISO to achieve it.

okay ...as far as i know.... the iso was at 80 [(the lowest) by the way, whats ISO...lol]
anyways.... it was in AUTO mode, but the macro mode was on as well .... its hard to explain... on thie camer the macro setting isnt ont he dial...its on the top.... seen here

it was on Auto Mode, with Macro Mode, that might sound stupid... but i have yet to full read through the manual i should of brought it to work ... lol.

once i start messing around with the PSAM mode, ill know more about the picture im taking..and ill have more control...

so for now im liking the macro shots, as far as that goes, showl i have long shutter speed or what?
