so after running a little search ive noticed that people want to pay to unlock phones..
is it really that hard that i cannot be done?

mrs elementone still doesnt have a phone, and theres some killer deals on ebay for phones, i need to bring it into the Bell Network, called they and they want the ISN number (cant remember, the one on the box)

Unlocking a phone usually involves having a list of codes on hand, software, and a USB cable to connect the phone to the computer. BTW the number Bell is looking for is the ESN, not the ISN. In any case, even unlocked CDMA phone will probably not work on Bell because it won't have the right PRLs programmed into the phone.

It's a lot cheaper and way less hassle just to buy my phone. $60 isn't much...

Even if you unlock it, you won't get it working for Bell or Telus. You *must* buy a Bell phone if you want it to work with Bell.
