I've seen some in Calgary.
Just wondering if the Calgary Auto show one was a concept car. the one with 400 HP?

That IS300 is L-Tuned. You won't be able to go to a dealer and order it or buy one.

the turbo IS300 at the calgary auto show was built just for the show. it is not a production car. i believe RCTS put together that car for lexus canada.

That's right. I was talking to Warren at the show and he said that they(RCTS) had some "issues" with what Lexus wanted regarding the break-in period and such. But anyways, the L-Tuned version will not be nearly as hard-core as the show car. But that show car was sweet.

As far as I know, the L-Tuned IS is just aesthetically enhanced.....I don't think I've seen one in Calgary yet.....Are you thinking about it Altezza? :D

Nice car...one thing kinda bugged me though...they compare the L-tuned IS300 to a C32 AMG....hardly a car to compare it to:

L-Tuned 223 Hp, 218 lbs/ft torque, 3274lb curb weight, $53,000 CAD

C32 AMG 349Hp, 332 lb/ft torque, 3400lb curb weight, $51000 USD

Not saying that cost means it better, but the stats clearly state the IS 300 L-tuned is not in the same class or competition to a C32AMG

What do you all think? I think the C320 with 215 hp would be more competition...

(not trying to start a e-battle, just MHO)

The L-tuned kit is mainly for looks (body kit, spoiler, wheels, springs, sways, exhaust) and you can get it in stages. The only HP you'll gain is from the exhaust. Canadian Driver is definately smokin something; I would guess that they believe L-tuned vehicles are the same as AMG or M tuned cars. That's quite far from the truth since L-tuned/TRD decided to chop most of their performance research (ie, a TRD Supercharger WAS in the works, but no more).

Lexus Canada wanted to take the turbo for a rip when the car had 36km on it. Not 36k km, 36.0km. The car was brand spankin' new. Since it was a custom turbo setup, there is no way RCTS would let Lexus Canada rip around in it without proper tuning and testing (irregardless if the car was new or not). As such, the revlimiter was intentionally adjusted low until the car is broken in. Once the car is broken in, RCTS would start to tune the system. That is the only reason why they can't run the car yet. Reg knows his stuff...once the system is tuned and tested, there is no reason to doubt the reliability.

I've seen a couple on the road. That kit is really nice, but you can't buy the kit separately anymore :( Even if I could, it's too expensive. I might end up getting the springs, sways, and exhaust though. :dunno:

:werd: i cant see under any conditions when that L-tuned IS could beat a C32

L tuned Cars still look DAMN nice...Saw a L Tuned Black GS430 a while back...almost dropped dead when i saw it too...

When your talking about the "complete kit for 10kish" Is that just asthetic body kit? Or are you talking full L tuned kit (ie Bodykit, springs, exhaust etc)
if your talking JUST bodykit...10,000? Pfff...fuck thaaat.

try comparing apples with apples and not apples with oranges. If you're goin' to price out the cars... atleast have 'em both in the same currency. It's misleadin' when you post it that way...$51,000USD is something like $84,000CAN.

If you read my post in its entirety, you would have noticed that I said the two cars are not in the same class and that THEY were comparing apples to oranges, meaning both performance-wise and especially price-wise...

I had the US price in front of me, and didn't feel the need to convert it...

Please be sure of your writing before you post, I don't think I needed to spell it out more than I already did..

A friend of mine had his GS400 L tuned, it was quite nice...apparently it is quite quick and handles very well for a mid/full size sedan...

You seem to be confused. The car that was being compared to the AMG was not the L-Tuned car, but rather the RCTS show car(with 300+hp). If Lexus makes a turbo kit for the car, RCTS will design it, TRD will build it and it will be sold by L-Tuned. But un any case, it will not have the same output as the show car, and will cost alot less then the C32.

Ummm actually if you read the article, they make NO mention of RCTS, or a turbo or anything. They print the stats right there for you and just above them they state competitors with the C32 being one...

You seem to be confused :)

The other two comparisons: Audi A4 3.0 Quattro and BMW 330i make sense, all i am saying is that the C32 doesn't belong...C320 maybe...

now if it had the performance numbers of a turbo version (which it doesn't) it would then compare to the Audi S4, BMW M3 and MB C32 AMG

Whew! I am hopefully done with explaining that one ;)

Zorro...
might have been your friend's car that i saw...I was pretty sure it was a 430 tho...but then again, this was a while back (few weeks at the least) so my memory might be a bit hazy, coulda been a 400.
It was extreamly nice...
Silencer: off topic, but meh, Is that the Konniegsieg in your avatar? mmmmm, love it.

If it was a slim brown guy driving it, it was my friend's...it is a 97 or 98 GS400 Black...nice car :D

I didn't see the driver...It was parked in the parking lot at work for a few hours...
It was a black newer one...With Dual Exhaust, maybe 18's, lowered, full L tuned package, and L tuned emblems on both sides...I've never seen any other Ltuned GS's before, so there was a good chance it prolly was your friend...
Nice car he's got.
