Mobb Deep is performing at The Whisky on June 11th.

Is anyone from here planning on going?

I was thinking about it, I have never been to one of these events, and I just moved here so I am looking for fun things to do.

Meh, if they only performed tracks from the infamous album, I'd be there. Not likely though.

I hope they get the point when the crowd goes buckwild for their old shit and sings along... and when everyone goes to the bathroom or to the bar when they drop their new shit... hahaha

I think it will be mostly new stuff since its to promote their new CD, but probably 30% of the set will be old.

lol thats the reason why G-Unit bought them. Mobb Deep had a battle with G-unit if you guys remember, and to show how big 50 is, he bought them out. they are completely gone now.. doubt anyone really will show up for the concert. sad sad. :whocares:

G-Unit didnt buy Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep signed with G-Unit for a lucrative contract including a pair of new Porsches. I also don't recall G-Unit having a beef with Mobb Deep. Back in the day, Jay-Z had beef with Mobb Deep and humiliated them in a few songs. Fifty refered to this in one of his songs and everyone blew that up into a beef. It wasnt really an attack, it was more like a comparison ... Fifty said something like "I'd do you like Jay-Z did Mobb Deep". Prodigy of Mobb Deep also has "G-Unit" tattooed on his right hand and 50 has "Mobb Deep" tatted on his wrist ... Something I dont see happening between guys with beef.

While I'll be the first to admit Blood Money was weak in comparasion to previous Mobb Deep albums, its still better than a lot of rap that gets released and I'm surprised to see this much hate. Most of you seem to have forgotten Mobb Deep released The Infamous which is widely said to be on the same level as Reasonable Doubt, Enter the Wu-Tang, and Ready to Die.

You should get from the title of their cds, that these guys are all about the money. Sure they went solo most their career, but artist autonomy doesn't matter, money does. They were dwindling after leaving Loud and moving to Jive. Their 'sell-out' cd with G-Unit has been on the Billboard Rap Top 10 for five weeks after being #1, I dont know what your talking about Mobb Deep being completely gone, they just went to where the money is.

^^

That said, I wouldnt go to this concert because rap concerts at clubs in Calgary suck. Theres always some problem at customs and half the time they dont make it into Canada. They are also usually late, and when they do show, they do one or two hits and then just play their music the rest of the night. Even if they are intending on doing a full show and there is no snags at customs, some dick will start a fight or pull a weapon and the show will get ended early anyways.

On a Sunday night, You can find a better place to spend $30 plus the cost of watered down drinks.
