HELP !!!!! I own a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Lately I have been hearing a CLUNKING noise when I turn the steering wheel. Doens't matter which direction, makes the same noise. I am not sure what this is. Would anyone out there have some kind of idea.
I recently had a front passenger side bearing changed but now need a driver side one cause it is making the same noise again.

Would for some reason a mechanic have noticed anything else wrong when they changed my bearing.

Thanks

My moms Buick Roadmaster had the same problem. We changed out the A arm, ball joints, tie rod ends etc etc. Didn't fix the problem. A cpl years down the road, turns out there was a flat spot in the power steering pump. Replaced it and problem solved. Don't know if it the same as your problem.

thanks for the feed back - I think my best bet is to get it into a garage and get it overhauled...............
For the issue on power steering pump - was it a loud clunk?

Sounds like it is the intermediate steering shaft. Faulty design on GM's part, quite common on 2000+ W-bodies.

The Road master is a completely different chassis.

FWD vs. RWD

CV, tie rod, ball joint, pitman arm?

If your mechanically inclined. Go underneath and inspect everything. Shack the wheel for play. check if your control arms are straight etc.

If you haven't hit anything, I'd place my money on tie rod/ball joint, or your CV.

My CV on my grand prix (w body) went at about 65k
