eclipse reverse

hi,
i have a 2003 eclipse rs, when i put it on reverse and press on teh gas the car shakes and it sort of blocks before going backwards
if i dont press the gas and let the car roll backward it works fine.

what i noticed is when i put the gear on reverse i hear a noise from the engine


anyone has any suggestions ?

Transmission / clutch / torque convertor problem, depending on the type of car.

Also, improperly installed brakes sometimes bind up in one direction.
