View Full Version : Help removing lock nuts without key

Can anyone suggest how I could remove two lock nuts from my acura. I purchased the car a while back but I never got a key.

alot of wheel and tire shops will have alot of keys, just call blaskin and lane and those kinda guys im sure someone will have one that matches up, is it the star style key?

the flower shaped one? goto the dealership and they will determine waht colour your key is and should have some in stock

what about old bmw lock nuts that use an actual key.

anyone know how to remove em?

hammer on a socket, or go to princess auto and buy the tool to remove them...think it's like 20 bucks...

easy outs... those are you best Bet, all you need is to hammer one on and then use an Impact gun to get them off, you can also use a Bar, but that just means that your going to have to hammer that thing on even... Harder... its quick easy and painless:thumbsup:

worst case scenario, use a grinder to cut a slot in the end of it then use the slotted end from a T bar tire iron to twist them off.

hammer and socket is easy. You might ruin your socket or locking lugs but those are cheap to replace.

i think princess auto calls them lug nut removers...comes in a a package of 2 for different sizes.

or if you have a grinder you could grind it so there is two flat side (opposite of each other) and then use the appropriate size wrench to take it off.

Kal-Tire removed the ones on my old truck for about 20-30 bucks, and that was for all 4 locks.

These tools worked really well and cost $10 for the pair. Sure beats paying $25 a tire that I was quoted from alberta wheel repair
