Well after my civic is boosted and painted i am getting another summer car....i have settled on s2000 or nsx but nsx seems like i wouldn't really want to have as of yet cuz of maintenance costs and s2000's seem like they would be less maintenance being way newer. i just want to know what people who have them think of them...i keep hearing it's a torqueless gutless car but i mean it seems like a quick car :dunno: i just want to know if im making a good decision getting a s2000 next year when the civy is done

it may not have the torque that some people are looking for but non-the-less very quick. and it handles like rafer alston  haha that being good.

anyways, imo, you should get one if that is what you prefer, its all about personal preference, but if your want a faster car with more torque for the same amount or less money, then this car probably isn't for you.

torque is not a good thing with me because i wouldnt have rear tires anymore ever. I want a convertible that is decently quick to be a highway cruiser/summer car whereas my civic is about 3 months away from a swap and turbo so that will be my torquy car to play around with my next car is to be staying allmost stock with maybe slight engine mods and rims and suspension and that's it thats why I'm looking for something a bit classier than a civic haha

any other 2000 owners on here??

There's tons of S2K owners here. If you have a boosted civic, the S2000 will be really slow for you.

would it really??? well all I know is I want a convertible for under or around 30000 but i plan on not modding the next car much as far as the engine goes i just want a nice car I can enjoy with the girlfriend. but why would a boosted b series civic be that much quicker than what is supposed to be a sports car...would a supercharger be reliable on an s2000?? comptech makes a kit don't they??

Yeah comptech and vortech makes s/c for the s2k. Planning on getting a s2000 soon. Try www.s2ki.com lots of info.

Because a boosted b series depending on how many psi you will be running will range anywhere from 220whp to 275whp (if you have a few other mods as well, which i'm assuming you do.) And an s2k will have maybe 200whp but the tq numbers wouldn't even be close. civic by a longshot.

I wanted an S2000 for the longest time. But now that everyone and their dog is raving about them, I've lost all interest.

The S2000 handles very well, but in my opinion it isn't fast and driving a car with very little torque is not that fun unless you like to be beteen 7000-9000 rpm all the time (i believe the newer s2000's made this problem a touch better). Torque is what most people feel as they are accelerating when they think its HP. Torque is what lets you shift less often if your lazy and want to leave it in the same gear more often. Neither of these cars would be on my list, but if I had to choose, probably the S2000 because it isn't FWD, and when you mod a car you may not get your money back.

Why don't you get a soltice or a sky. Cheap and fun. Wait for the Sky Redline which should be cheaper and faster than the S2K.

Yes. It is on a completely new platform.

despite the fact I like the Sky I have dreamed of having a s2000 since they came out. and most likely would at least mod it enough to have some kind of torque....and as most of us know once you start you usually can't stop but I still think I will end up with another honda haha. I have had 5 in the last 3 years and have had good luck with them mostly haha

what are the ways to make it torquy?? i have seen one with itb's that seemed to haul serious ass and sounded bad ass

They might have a stroker kit for the F20C, or you'd have to go F/I. I would do neither. Why buy a Honda if you want torque?

If you want torque, american V8's will suit you as well as most motors in German cars, they seem to like flat torque curves. For the price of a new S2000 you could pick up a used Corvette, for in the 30,000's. Not a huge fan of them personally, but it may suit your needs better if your looking for a torquey 2-seater sports car. Just a suggestion, unless your concerned alot about reliability they stick to the S2000 or other suggestions.

It will be difficult to get much torque out of a 2.0L 4 cyl, but a turbo would help with that once you got some RPM.

Honda's are made for N/A. Imo don't boost it...and if you do want to upgrade the engine, get ITB's, I/H/E, Cams, and tune it after you have all those.

That would be expensive tho....and would only give you ~40hp? at most.

IMO just leave it as is, and mabey get a few handling mods/appearance.

You said you wanted reliablity (less maintenence)

yeah i think I will stick to the s2000 and just make the civic fast....hahah civic and fast in the same sentence just dosnt seem right hahaha. but yeah im really concerned about reliability haha since the way i drove the piss out of my last few hondas made them fall apart. but the next one is to be a summer daily driver and highway cruiser wont drive it hard like i do the civic...if i blow the engine in the civic its only like 900$ for a complete swap i figure the s2000 would be pretty $$$

remind me never to buy a car off of you...but in relevance to the topic I woul save a little more and get a 350z.

hahah well I dont bag on them that bad but I mean why baby a car that you pay 5000$ for I get bored of them really quickly too...But I'm usually on top of maintenance. and the civic I'm keeping as a fun car. and I have my heart pretty set on the s2000 it's not the engine i like it's the car...i think the s2000 has some really sexy lines which can be improved by nearly stock looking body kits. It's just that I will finally be in a position to buy a more expensive car and I am sick of driving sub 10000$ cars. so s2000 is something I see as a long term car. This thread is just to get other 2000 owner's opinions like if they regret buying it or not...and also I don't need a fast car for straights either my first car was an fc so I'm all about windy roads

look at a SAAB 9-3 Aero convertable :P

they make more tourque at idle than an s2k does at peak :P completly flat tourque curve.... very fun cars

i have a s2000!!!!
love it!
yes it has no torque but it is still pretty quick.... it will get beat by all the new cars coming out or which are out!
but taking that car on the twisties is fun!!!
matinence is pretty easy!
ive had it for about 1.5 years so far.. only problem ive had was the clutch.... but that was the person before me... he worked the clutch pretty hard.....
other then that... regular matience is good!!!

you will love the s2000 when u get it!
the sound of it in high rpms is amazing:drool:

but its true... your turbo civic would be just as fast or faster then the s2k
and plus since your into modding... this car has soooo many parts for modding
comtech supercharger and vortech supercharger on the www.s2ki.com seems to be really reliable! that would give u the torque you need... but at a huge price tag....
n/a on this car makes me happy enough though

^drive one at a used dealership or sometohing
most places are pretty anal...

i rememeber when i bought it... dealerships laughed at me when i asked to test drive it

I get pretty pissed off when I can walk into BMW and they let me out in a M3/M5, sometimes without even a salesman and then I go over to Honda and they wouldn't let me in an S2000. Even porsche let me out alone in a boxter, then a boxter S, and I was allowed to test drive an NSX also. I remember having the same problem with corvette, they treat their cars as if they were priceless when they are half the price of what other dealers will let you out alone in.
