Is that a restricted or non restricted rifle? Just curious for restricted weapons usually entail alot of annoying paperwork and annoyances for transportation and usuage. Looks like fun non-the-less! :D

non-restriced.

It is a fully legal, registered weapon. You can see that is there is only a 5 shot magazine. Canadian law won't let me get the 150 round drum I want.

I thought it would be best to stay legal with this one. Its sure to attract some attention.

How much does one of those usually run, if you don't mind?

decked out the way this one is......

prolly around $600.. want to buy this one, or one like it? I can get more..... lots more.

pretty expensive for a gun made in China in 1956.

It is by no means an accurate gun either. It is purely a toy. It is of legal calibre to hunt deer with, but its not nearly powerfull enough. Max shot would be around 400yrds. At that range, there is very little energy left.

Bah...real assassins use knives...or so says Jean Reno.:nut:

You would not be allowed to shoot yotes with a restricted rifle. Can only use them at the range.

Yup just a toy, personaly I would go for handguns when in the toy department. If Im buying a rifle its going to have a definate use.

.223 is my fav for yotes

This thread reminds me of an old one. Seems there are a fair number of gun slinging beyonders. It was brought up last year about the idea of seeing how many would be interested in a beyond trip to the range. But it kind of fizzled as it was way too late in the year.

Im partial to trap shooting, only thing I have to do at the long range is sight in my .22 for them gophers.

my favorite coyote rifle is a Remington 22-250 with 35 grain nylon tipped Hornady's running throught the crono at about 4100fps

But the SKS is about 1/10th the price to shoot.

as far as handguns..... too much of a hassle. And if you go unregistered, its a stiff penalty if you get caught with it.

Isnt a Druganov a Russian weapon? It was primarily used for infantry on the front lines untill it was realised it was accurate over a range of X amount and then a scope attatched.

The SKS was actually made in Russia as well. Then all the knock offs started getting made because they couldn't keep up with demand. Lots of wars to feed....

there are several different flavours...
Russian - original
Chinese
Yugoslavian
Romanian
Albanian

So long as the US is using the M16 .223 is dirt cheap to buy in bulk. And .223 is great out to 600 yards, provided you have a 600 yard capable shooter. Either or its just a IMO thing.

Handguns, yea a hastle. And if you do get them go through the hasstle. I have restricted but there are rifles I need more then handguns right now. Its not worth having them unregistered. Long gun, if its registered or not I dont care either way.

I can't get my hands on any .223 ammo anymore, with the war in Iraq and such very little to no surplus Remington ammo is coming up across the border...

So if anyone knows where i can get 55 grain .223 FMJ ammo for cheap let me know!

Ohh had not thought about that. But I bet if you wait .223 FMJ will dirt, dirt, and dirt cheap "if" the war ever ends.

Still expensive for the old 55gr round. Used to be able to pick up the new 62gr NATO round for 15c a round in bulk.

how do u go about getting a unrestricted rifle?

i just want to goto the canadiantire on mcloud and get one.....

Charon

^^ You still need a FAC/PAL to get unrestricted, and you still have to register it.

Though it looks like they will be abolishing the long gun registry you will still need a FAC/PAL to own a unrestricted firearm in the future.

If you are actually interested in owning something take the AHEIA Course, They dont charge but they ask for a donation(tax detuctable) for providing the course to anyone.

Charon

You get the FAC/PAL by taking that course.
And yes, you can go out of the city and shoot at targets. There is a free range out near the sibbald flats.

what I'm getting at is, now that you have the gun couldn't you just order the drum without hassle?

i sure could and the first time an RCMP officer or a Conservation Officer stopped me and saw it, he would promptly remove the gun from my possession and not want to give it back.
