So I dropped of the Gt in the shop today to get the bumper fixed and get the body kit painted. Went home and took my 90 Probe LX out. The LX is just my winter beater and it aint a bad looking car either. It has a nice set of 16" on it and a body kit. Anyway....as always when I'm driving that car, I was bagging it pretty good. Turn onto Canyon Meadows and I gun it going up hill. I hit 6100 rpms in second and thenl I hear loud bang, I lost all power car just coasted for a bit making horrible sounds, it stopped and started rolling back down the hill.

I looked under the car and it look fine, and there wasn't any external engine damage that I could see. I'm hoping that it was the disty that went, becasue when I tried starting it the engine would still crank, but it wouldnt spark. So I may just need a new disty for it.

It's still quite an experience and one day I'll be able to tell my son that when I was his age I blew an engine as well.

Here's a pic of the car: http://images.geekazoids.net/apokronyk.jpg

That thing has about 280,000 km it. The only other problem I ever had with it was that I blew the clutch to shit. Other than that a rack and pinion seal blew. Cost me 10 dollars to fix. This thing should be Ford's quality poster car. Never heard of a car holding up so well made by ford. Because of this thing I decided to buy another Probe, but I really nice on the Gt, I love it to death.

So you finally bagged the LX so bad it had to give up eh Kronyk? Good job! Atleast you've got a few months to fix it before winter rolls around again.

Actually, the 90-92 Ford Probe LX do not have mazda engines. They have a Ford Vulcan 3.0 V6 in them. So you have to give it credit for lasting this long.

The vulcan is actually supposed to be quite a good motor. The problem is ford drops them into the biggest POS cars. Fun fact, the V12 used in the Aston Martin DB7 is two Vulcan blocks welded together in the middle with an extended crank.

I've blown a motor, a tranny, and I've bagged a car so hard that I made the front discs literally crumble to pieces. That was all before the DSM. Can't wait to see what goes next...
