Does anybody know the fundemental difference between the lotus Elise and Exige??

Both have the same performance numbers, do they weigh the same?? or is it just a matter of body styling.

I was under the impression the Exige is the hard top, motorsports version of the Elise.

In a nutshell, yes.

The Exige isn't legal up here, I don't think.

I think the Exige might be more aggressively tuned for track usage, but the main different is
Exige = hardtop
Elise = no top

Lotus Sport (Lotus Motorsports) does limited edition Elises and Exiges.

Exige has Bilstein shocks I think, the 240R and S has 16 way adjustable shocks (not completely sure...too many trims lol)

As people mentioned before, Exige is just a hardtop version of an Elise. It's harder/stiffer for more hardcore track use (roof adds more rigidity). Basicly, it goes Elise->Exiege->Exiege 240R->Exiege S in terms of track use aspirations out of the showroom.

They all use the same Celica GTS engine, and just have different suspension/body stiffness...with the latter being the most stiff. The S has a supercharger.

Exige 240R was last years production model, it came from Lotus Sports while the Exige S is from Lotus. The 240R is suppose to be the quicker one

The 2006 models are:
Elise
Elise S
Elise R
Elise Sports Car

Exige
Exige S
Exige Cup (from Lotus Sport)
Exige Cup 240 (from Lotus Sport)
Exige GT3 (from Lotus Sport, for FIA GT3 usage)

2005 Lotus Sports Exige (400 hp @ 7750 rpm) > all others, well maybe not the GT3

2005 Lotus Sports Exige (http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72879&highlight=Lotus)

The lotus has a toyota celica engine so you know that means.

That would be a crazy feat if the Sport Exiege with 400 hp was a Celica GTS engine as well. That engine has 11.5:1 compression @@

You have no idea what the Elise is about if that's all you can say about it.

Elise = best handling production car on the planet.

And who said Boxster S/Cayman S?

The Boxster is a little girly. The Cayman is pure sex on wheels.

the GT3 is track use only (so unless you have a team in the FIA.. good luck getting one)

there's only 1 Lotus Sports Exige made.. also not for sale, but if it was.... i'd sell my house for it :love: :love:
