WTF?? Those are VERY different vehicles. It's all in what is important to him and what he wants. Shouldn't be a hard choice. Since everything else in the TT's class (S2K, Z3, boxster etc) is much better I say he consider something else in it. Though the TT would make a better year round vehicle.

The S60 is built for much more than sportiness.

What model of S60 BTW?

Holy shit, either a sports coupe.convertible or a sedan? Interesting.....quite the far end of the spectrum.....Hell I take the TT

I don't like either car. But I HATE Audi TT's. I'd go for the Volvo.

There's an S60R out now, I think its 300hp, AWD, same trim as the regular S60 but bigger cajones!!

For my money, the S60 R is way cooler.

And the R is not really priced any higher than the TT.

I think it comes in around 60 large. The R that is. I'm not a fan of the TT. The one I sat in at the car show, unless you're no taller than 5'6", it's too small.

The TT is all show. If the S60R is chosen it will not disappoint.

Yup, and an optional 6 speed manual!

If I had over 60 grand to spend on ANY new car, the S60R would be my first choice, no questions asked.

S60, even a T5, it's very smooth, almost bought one a couple years ago but too much torque steer, I think it's been fixed. I had the T5 268hp version for a weekend, I loved it. Very nice on roads like crowchild, I went 200km by accident, it was quick, and you really didn't feel like you were going 200. If my mom doesn't buy another Mercedes this year she'll probably get an S60 or S80. The S60R would be sweet, I couldn't even imagine the speed in that thing. Ohh, good sound systems too :)

IMO, the TT is a terrible car, I'd rather have an A4 or A6. are you sure your dad isn't thinking of a C70? A girl in my highschool a couple years ago had a choice b/w the TT and C70 and she got the volvo.

The C70 'vert may be a nice choice for your dad. Granted, its not AWD, but it has an EXTREMELY well tuned and upgraded S70 chassis. Very underrated cars, I'd love a T5 C70! much more practical than the TT too.

LoL, I thought that might be the case, but it was a very impressive 247hp, you know the torque rating?

I'd go for the S60 for sure...it's fast, wont cripple in a wreck, classy roomy, and a smooth ride... it's worth the price tag....

The S60R has failed to remain competitive with the M5 and RS6. Lame attempt at a sport sedan, IMO.

It's half the price! Tough to compare, I think it's more in the catagory of 540/535 and A6, both of which are still more expensive. Lame attempt? I think that's a bit harsh.:dunno:

they are not even in the same category. the cars mentioned above list for almost double the price of the S60R. In that respect, its a really good attempt at a sport sedan IMO.

S60R $58 995
M5 $105 500
S6 $89 995 (RS6 not available in Canada)

Hakk, the T5 has 243 Tq, the T6 has 280, but keep in mind all the current generation volvo engines are undersquared, so they reach thier peak torque levels low. The 2.4 LPT (engine in my parent's XC70) now hits its peak torque at 1500 RPM! The T5 hits it at 2400 RPM, and the T6 at 1800 I believe.
