I have a 2.7l from my 86 325es. It is in a few pieces but would be a great starter for a sweet big bore project. Even better if you have a i head.

looking for 500 obo for whatever I have.

Don't forget to factor in shipping costs (prob +$500 depending on where you're shipping it from) and border duties (think is about 14%)

Ive got a 2.7L from a 325e. I took it out of my parts car about a month ago. It ran great when I took it out and has about 250k on it. Most things are still attached to it even the tranny. You can have it, excluding the tranny, for $400. If your interested i even have a brand new timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and waterpump.

Dillon that is not a very good deal. A little on the high side if you ask me. What is good about it is that its from a 5 series which means that won't need to switch out the oil pan if you were to find an m50 from an e36. However its still overpriced; see if you can work him down a bit.

I've seen m50 motors from e36's go for 500US and that is sort of an average price. Keep looking. M50's are a good option because they have 4 valves per cylinder and run a timing chain, not belt.

And don't go for the 2.7...bad investment to get the economy motor. If your going to stick with m20's go with the 'i' engine; the m20b25 and if you want more power turbocharge it.

Good luck man.

To run proper management for the OBD2 on his E30, he would probably have to go with a standalone engine management.

Not the most cost effective option I think.

euro_racer im sure that you want like 6k for that motor and tranny setup but im just looking for an m50 now, and yes from a 5 series but i could care less if its out of a 3. I emailed affordable-autoparts about getting a motor from them but they havent contacted me yet, I think i will call them today. Plus they are only 3 hours away. I hope to find a nice m50 to drop in with in a month.

yeah the m50 from the states would, excuse my french but 'rape' me by the time it got over the border and what not. heh cant really get it shipped as a gift either.

my search continues for the m50 motor.

heres a link to affordable if you didnt know about em

if anyone has had previous experience with this company please contact me with any problems that may have occured.

thanks,

If it matters to you, if you do plan on bringing one out of the states. Do the customs paperwork yourself. My buddy was going to be charged around $150+ for his Hood coming through customs, but in his luck they overlooked it and made him do his own paperwork. Ended up costing him like tops $40, 8 for hte acvtual customs fees, DIRT cheap.

Thats much less than a bolt on affair; unless your willing to do some work, this is probably not the best option to go.

M50's are cheap, reliable, parts cheap and are easily had. I've been told that you won't see a significant power increase however and you'll crave power later down the road...

So S50 right away?! :dunno:

I have a M50 if you're willing to rebuild the head (still runs) I have tranny ECU complete harness, rebuild starter and alternator, brand new (BMW) water pump and clutch kit (BMW). Its as complete as it can be.

How hard is the swap ?
- dose this set up clear nicely firewall ?
- would the old tranny bolt in to m50 or do you have to use the newer one ? what would you do for the driveshaft then isn't e30 bit shorter ?
- biggest question - engine management wouldn't be easier to run it on standalone ?

I love the idea just don't have the room or time for another project.

Euro - did you guys picked up that red E46 vert on 19" ?

d.maczko
06-23-2006, 12:11 PM
i have never done this swap before, only hondas lol
from what ive heard its pretty straight forward
yes it tucks nicely infront of the firewall.
you can use the m20 tranny or the m50, both will work, the m20 driveshaft and the m50 driveshaft will both work.

are you thinking of getting an e30 and doing this swap, just tell me now and ill continue my search

No such thing as an 02 323.

Are you looking at parting out the supercharger?

d.maczko
06-25-2006, 05:00 PM
wow after being told what parts to buy and all it seems liek the swap will cost around 4-5k, now i ask myself if its worth the money to swap this motor in, or to rebuild my m20 and boost it. :dunno:

PrezeS_PL
06-25-2006, 10:29 PM
buy my E36 parts car for 2k and you will have everything you need and more, minus the e34 oil pan

d.maczko
06-26-2006, 11:33 AM
plus the rebuild of the motor cuz its got lots of kms, and all the new parts to go with that rebuild and all the parts needed to drop it into the e30, its around 5k. for that much money i'll find an m20b25 and rebuild it and boost it

so im looking for an m20b25, or a 325i motor from an e30,
post up what you guys got or know someone that has one.
the less the kms the better.
