On average, what country do you feel makes the best all-around daily drivers?

Not an import vs domestic thread, we haven't had a poll like this in a while :D

i dont know how many of us will ever consider a bentley our daily driver...

personally i think my dads durango is the best dd ive ever driven... useful in so many different ways... tough as fuck i got it stuck in 5 feet of mudd once and it survived without a sratch... we beat the shit out that truck and it took everything... very nice and comfy to drive as well... id take it over any other daily driving under $40,000 pratical vehicle... id still rather have a type r

Ok, Ok. For an actual daily driver, i would say a domestic V8 of some sort. My Dads truck is near 350 000 km with no majors and his buick roadmaster wagon (305ci V8) is at about 290 000Km with no majors, so thats the proof i need. Course there is that commercial of the toyota 4runner at like 700 000km.

Well this is not a biased comment.

I think that Honda is really strong as the best all around daily driver.

I know I drive a Honda, but I will never buy one again.

Why do I say Honda? Well because they are consistently Average. They have always been the best all around package. They aren't the best performing, they don't have the best comfort, they don't have the best looks and they don't always have the best value.

What they do have is the best combination of everything. This seems to be the Honda moto. Even their motorcycles are built that way. Look at any magazine. They are consistently rated in the top 3 for any category they have a vehicle in.

Take the new Accord for instance. Looks like ass, but still acceptable. Decent power, but not the most power in it's class. Handles ok, but there are better cars out there. Comfortable and roomy. Priced just about right. Very reliable, but not the most reliable... have you seen a honda go 1,000,000 miles?

Let the flames begin?:D

i'm going to have to agree with the above statement, but not entirely.

IMO Honda's have been the most reliable cars on the market. Toyota's also have a bit of built in longevity. So Japan makes the best all around daily drivers.

but one thing i want to know, how many cars have crossed 1 000 000 miles/km on the original engine? not many

daily driver means a compromise of everything important to you. Safety, cost, fuel mileage, practicality, capability, performance, etc.

And this isn't companies, its the countries.

I choose Sweden. On average, Saab and Volvo produce the most vehicles with a combination of strong features I value in a daily driver.

Volvo makes extremely well refined vehicles.

That P1800 is in my 2002 guiness world records book as highest mileage car ever. 1,882,559 miles (over 3 million Km) last year so now I guess its 2 million. HOLY SHIT!

It is the same engine, rebuilt once at 680,000 miles.

Almost all original, only minor parts replaced, and only bodywork has been new paint.

I think the question should be what company makes the best daily drivers, and not what country. Subaru offers a much different line of vehicles then honda does, yet they come from the same country. Same as Porsche vs. BMW or Mercedes. I dont think I could choose a specific company, but it would probably be between Ford and GM simply because here in NA they have the widest selection of types of vehicles to choose from and the greatest range of price. From compact cars to 1 ton trucks, from compact 'sport' wagons to 20ft long SUV's no other automakers offer as much variety as these two companies. They may not make the best looking cars, or most reliable, or most fuel efficient, but they offer what no import automaker from japan or europe can, a wide range of choices.
