The province of Ontario is trying to ban aftermarket parts for use in the province.

The Road & Safety Act of Bill 241 outlines that "Prescribed substances, equipment for racing are prohibited. No person shall drive or permit to be driven on a highway a motor vehicle with a prescribed part, containing a prescribed substance or equipped with prescribed equipment in prescribed circumstances."

There will be fines from $200-$1000 and/or a 6 month jail term for use of these prescribed parts.
Prescribed parts are essentially defined as aftermarket performance products of almost any nature.

Visit www.petitiononline.com/sect1722 and sign your name. The petition will be sent to Ontario Premeir Ernie Eves.

Does anyone have the real proposal for this bill?

The mention of the words 'prescribed' immediatly makes me think of nitrous oxide to be used for medicinal purposes.

nitrous for medicinal purposes is pure, and has no additives. nitrous for automotive applications has sulphur added so that if there is a leak you are able to smell it.

again i don't know what this bill applies specifically to, however the words prescribed immidiatly lend themselves to medical terms in my eyes.

Folks probably shouldnt run NO2 on the street anyways. Also, wippets are fun, but its not a big deal to make it medicinal.

What does the bill apply to in terms of "mods"?

I just happed to pick up a this months copy of performance auto sound magazine and there is a really interesting article on the proposed ban of all aftermarket parts. It basically states that a cop has the right to pull over any car with aftermarket parts and literally strip it on the side of the road and nail the driver with a 2000$ fine or up to six months in jail. :thumbsdow There is a petition with over 12000 signatures being presented in ontario very soon so if you are interested in signing go to www.petitiononline.com/sect1722 to oppose the ban. I personally think its bullshit that a cop can strip your car just because you have rims and xenon headlights. Sorry if this is a repost, i didnt check to see if this already existed.

Can't they limit it to those cars put together with no taste? A sort of public service if you will.
